With the Flyers being grounded for so long and the Devils coming off of back-to-back OT winners, it's going to be tough for the Flyers in Game 1. They're gonna have to come out like gangbusters and pot one early or chance being lulled to sleep by the Devils. - bradleyc4
I'd rather have a week off and go in healthier and more rested than the oppenent instead of playing two days after a 7 game series. |

do NOT underestimate the devils...ask vancouver what happens when you underestimate...these playoffs are all about the upsets...with that said kudos to this blog post...brutally honest yet tasteful...sadly im sure i wont be able to say the same about the flyer fans as this series moves forward - Xnightwish
not all of us are dis-tasteful - I for one, like to talk a little smack, but nothing too crazy. It's going to be a great series. |

finally have a team to play!! This series is going to be the exact opposite style than against Pittsburgh -- more defensive minded.
Anyone know if Salvador is okay after taking that chop in OT? Hope he's okay, but not well enough to play. - flyersfan51
I'm a little disappointed for this need to place the Flyers in afternoon games. I think if you end up playing up to Seven in a series, you're playing 2 days later. Some of these teams are but since the Flyers claim the day games on weekends, that saves the Devils. Had we got the Sens, we would have easily of played Saturday Night for Hockey Night in Canada. No Question. |

I like the Caps
I doubt the Kings get past the Blues, yet alone the Preds 2. - Scottie Upshall
I think it goes Caps/Flyers Blues/Preds, then Blues/Flyers in the SCF, and I think the Blues pull it off. |

He came back and played last night in overtime. Lost feeling in his hand from the slash, but regained it. I thought for sure he broke his wrist. |

agreed -- plus they played a couple OT games as well. We might be rusty at first, but that only lasts so long. |

It's tricky. You can argue the fatigue, but then you can also argue the Devils will be up to game speed, and it will be a seamless transition. Who knows what the hell happens though. |

I think if the devils had trouble with Florida, then the Philly offense can really get them turned around. All this time off only benefits the flyers, IMO. Deboer even said after the game that it was an exhausting series for the devils. Flyers need to take advantage of that on Sunday. - funmaster18
YES!
The extra days off can only help the Flyers. Danny, Grossmann, Kimmo, Carle, Coburn, Cooter, JVR will all be better for it.
The double OT game last night can only help the Flyers as the Devils played 2 days before while the Flyers rested.
I can't wait for Sunday! I need me some Flyers hockey!!!

I don't like the sunday afternoon games, but it is what it is. I'll be tuned in. |

If you don't keep the discussion to hockey and respect other posters you won't be saying much for the duration of the series. |

right -- devils will be at game speed at the drop of the puck.....but what about the third period? they will probably be a little tired, but that might not even matter, who knows? I just wish it was sunday. My wife wants to go shopping and I didn't know the schedule so I said, I don't know yet, we have to see the flyers schedule and once it came out, I told her, whatever she wants to do tonight and tomorrow when she gets done and up to noon on sunday, after that, don't bother me! |

LOL, you came in here calling out the Flyers fans before anything was hardly even said on the thread. And now your annoyed! You haven't offered any objectivity whatsoever on the Series.
And your completely wrong that the Flyers rookies weren't in the running for the Calder. One of the Flyers rookies led the NHL in goals scored for rookies. And Couturier is certainly also on that list. So saying that isn't a stretch. - MJL

Let's reverse last years second round. Devils win a hard fought 7-game first round (like PHI vs BUF last year), then we go on to sweep them in the second round |

Or... you can look at it that 2OT game 7 is a physical/mental grind on the Devils w/o much rest to prepare for a rested opponent.
Flyers need to get out early and try to break the will of the Devils. |

Usually, I'd be hesitant about the Flyers playing after a long break. This year, though, I'm glad they had to time to recover and get a couple important players back in the line up. |

each teams need different things..
the Devils might be fighting fatigue, you never know on the flip side the Flyers are a little banged up and needed time off.
We will find out Sunday.
Every team that makes it into the playoffs and continues to advance are worth opponents. I just like the Flyers depth. They have 4 lines that can put the puck in the net and can play team defense. That's the edge to the series. |

the poster mentioned the first series...honestly who gives a sh!t, the Flyers moved on and the Pens are now on vacation. I knew going into the series (Pens), it was going to be ugly.
Now onto round 2 |

Both teams certainly benefit from easy travel. Now that FL is out of it. Everything in the east is a quick Amtrak trip. |

Absolutely. Get pucks deep and pound the defenseman. I think the Flyers will get plenty of scoring chances. |

The truth is if the Pens play any other team in the playoffs their still going to score goals and they had the most powerful scoring attack in the league (w/ Philly right there as well). |
