I say the Rangers set the tone by challenging Ovie...not run him, nothing dirty but a challenge, if the NHL isn't going to take a stand then the team has to...just like ehat happened when they stood up to Neil...Prust, Rupp, someone challenge him...he wants to leave his feet fine, there has to be a consequence, Callahan's quote was telling yesterday, how there is no hatred this series...just a thought... - Blueshirts4ever
I don't understand that. The Capitals have knocked the Rangers out of the playoffs twice in a row. How the hell can the Rangers not be mad? They better get mad in a hurry. |

I don't care if they're mad or not, but they have to be physical. They need to come out and bang the body tonight, especially on the forecheck. If they hit, and they manage not to fall behind ealier that will keep the crowd in the game. Scoring first wouldn't hurt either.
So, I guess what I am saying is they need to play physical and desperate, whether they are mad or not. |

Scoring first is a must. Caps are unbeaten when scoring first during these playoffs. |

Just them chanting "hey you suck" after they score, they went straight into a Flyers suck chant, they've become and embarrassment for the NHL - HankdaTank
Maybe that's why Philly is playing so bad; their feelings are hurt. |

Can't believe their effort, thought they had more heart, no time or space and they give up, the coverage on the game winner was beyond horrific.

It is as though they replaced the entire team from round 1 with pods. |

Except for Bryzgalov who has been pretty good in the series. |

Well, some would argue he was switched. I would argue his broken foot finally healed enough that it didn't kill him to move side to side. He's been very good considering a complete lack of support. |

These playoffs are beyond confounding. Nothing is more emblematic of that the 8th seed in the West looking like an unstoppable force, having knocked off the teams with the second and third best regular season records in a total of 9 games.
Hell, the Caps as the 7th seed look like a real threat, and the Flyers, for whatever reason, look like they were just happy to beat the Pens and call it a day. Who knows what is going to happen from here on out. Maybe the Flyers find themselves, and come back in the series. Not likely, but nothing would surprise me at this point. |

All I care about is winning game 5 and then the series. Set us up in the ECF for the first time in 15 years against either Jersey or Philly and I'll take our chances with either team. Let's just beat Washington. |

Agree. The Rangers just need to climb the mountain in front of them, and worry about what comes next if they can put four wins in the column against the Caps. |

there is so much parity these days and really not a whole lot of difference between the 1 and 8 seeds.
If you back to say, 1981, the Islanders had 110 points that season and played the 16th seed in the first round who had 71 points. Do to upsets, the next rounds they played the 14th seed, followed by the 13th, and ultimately Minnesota, the 9th seed who had 87 points.
The 1981 Islanders barely broke a sweat on their way to winning the 1981 Stanley Cup. Back then there were a lot of bad teams in the playoffs, not so any more. |

You can even extend it further to the non-playoff teams. The Lighting played in the ECF last year. The Sabres, if they made the playoffs, would have been a force to be reckon with with Miller in net. Teams like the Canes and Jets are decent teams. They're simply aren't that many terrible teams in the NHL anymore -- you could probably count on one hand the truly terrible teams in the NHL this year. |

Do you guys feel that this is a must win tonight? I kind of do. Just don't seem them coming back from 3-2 down two series in a row, but again, who knows? |

No but I don't want to see them down 3 - 2 either. It would be much tougher to have to win 2 in a row than it would be just one of the next 2 after tonight. |

Can't go to the "back are up against th ewall in the other team's building" well too many times...so is it a must win? hard to say that when there is another game on Wednesday and if they lose, guys like BR will say, "we needed two before tonight and that hasn't changed after tonight". We had a recent history of playing reasonably well in Ottawa, not the case in DC so while its not a must win its certainly in the,"its in their VERY BEST INTEREST" to win category.... |
