Stupid logic of the day, if we would've kept Holmgren back in 74 instead of letting him re-enter the amateur draft maybe today he'd be running the Oil instead of Lowe

Oilers could just be jerks, qualify him, and then make no attempt to deal him or re-sign him.

I haven't read 150 comments to see if anyone picked up on this.

July 1 Omark is a free agent, he can sign with anyone he choses.
If the Oilers have qualified him, and he signs with an NHL team, the Oilers can match the offer.
Remember "Offer Sheets?"

If the contract Omark signs is under a million [I can't remeber the exact number], the Oilers get no compensation if they don't match.

If they match, the Oilers more-or-less have to keep him on the roster next season.

That greedy Swede won't sign for under a million. He would jet back to the KHL before that ever happens.

What does he really expect to get? And technically he wouldn't jet back as he is already somewhere in Europe wondering how he didn't make the WC team.

I wonder how much flack Sather is taking for not giving Zuccarello a full-time NHL job even after showing he could put up .5ppg in 40 games.

If he gets a shot at the NHL he probably would take under a million. It's not like he was getting paid handsomely by the Oilers anyways.

STL don't care for prospects and picks, they want roster players that can help them next season to push again. Now if STL is a cap stingy team, if Stewart resigns he may get the same thing for one year...so $3-3.5M. EDM will be trading someone back around that salary or less with the potential in their mind to help them more than Stewart. Yes, I say Belanger and Omark would be good. Belanger to fit in their defensive game, give Omark a chance to help them, maybe even Peckham as depth dman as their defensive core is coming good for top 3.

Im not a huge Stewert fan, but a 4th line C, a bust and a tweener defensmen don't get you Chris Stewart.

Well, if Stewart is RFA, trading three pieces for an RFA is reasonable. Yes, the quality of the three pieces maybe not great. EDM can start at Hemsky+. I am also getting a feeling EDM may have to trade MPS for him. Stewart have to be willing to resign in EDM. if MPS goes to STL. If your not a Stewart fan, who else would you suggest for a power forward in the top 6 that has offensive upside, fights, gritty, willing to get under opponent skin?

2 4th line centremans at the current moment; talking about present value...Lander may have the upside to be 3C, not sure about 2C and what to say for Plante, probably like Peckham for Stewart? I think I would hang up. Belanger helps STL as defensive role for a 3C as checking role as Arnott is UFA. Maybe STL would want Teemu which I can see. I would hold on to MPS at all cost, rather send draft picks too. Don't think they will take Plante, if Peckham no good, then they may want Sutton as vet presence and imposing figure. I am of course basing this on Stewart's RFA status, if he resigns like 2-3 years in STL, then EDM will have to consider MPS.

The fact that he is an RFA has next to no bearing on his value.

I don't see how that can improve STL to be better than last year. I'm speaking with other STL fans and they urge the fact of keeping things the same but more scoring potential, I like Lander and want to keep him, but time to pay to play. EDM can get it done.

Those guys aren't even 4th line centres yet.
