I want a spot in the top six opened for Kadri or another younger player, just my opinion Mike.

edit: you did mean MacArthur, right?

- LeafMan

MacArthur.....correct.

I'm becoming more convinced that Kadri will be part of the expected big deal for a center/power forward over the summer.

The very same big deal that was suppose to happen last year? Or the year before that?

When is this franchise going to learn that the "big deal" isn't out there. When are they going to learn that the best way to do things are in house?

I understand your skepticism, but I believe Burke has reached his "sh#t or get off the pot" moment and will use some of his young assets to make a big deal.

I think Burke has lost his MOJO, like 640 lost the Leafs hockey rights. Seriously, since his son passed away, Burke hasn't done much. Walking in a gay rights parade, or going to Kandahar, isn't what he was hired to do. He froze, during January, February and March. If he does nothing at the draft, then it's time to say goodbye.

Burke has made two big deals and neither has provided desirable results. I cringe to think what a third big deal will look like. And what it would cost us.

I'd rather Burke just get off the pot.

Is it really? What did he accomplish, last year? Fired Napolian? Missed out on Kyle Turris, when he was available. When Dustin Brown was being shopped, he didn't do anything. Other teams took their chances, but Burke stood pat. With all of this brain power that he hired, you can't tell me that there wasn't any opportunities to improve. Just Burke being paralyzed.

He didn't miss out on Turris. Turris cost the Senators Rundblad. To the Leafs, that might as well be Jake Gardiner.

Brown was never being shopped. That's ridiculous. Why would they trade their captain? And if they did, what would the price tag have been? Astronomical.

Burke has been paralyzed because he backed himself into a corner. He tried to cut a corner and make the playoffs too fast and it backfired. Now he has to live with his mistakes and hope he gets lucky.

He already won the lottery, when he signed on here. I'm not sold on David Rundblad. I wonder if Grabo could have gotten us Brown, back then. The Kings were also in freefall, but they had a GM that acted, unlike the Pope of Leafinsanity!

You and I agree on this idiotic quick rebuild. Burke miscalculated the value of his roster, which begat the Kessel debacle.

Yeah you're right...maybe he could've traded Kessel and our 1st for Nash and CBJ's first.

Yes, that was a good deal, but he didn't do it, last year, it was the year before. He also won the Phaneuf/Aulie for a bag of pugs deal and he mildly won the deal for Lebda/Slaney going to Nashville, for Franson/Lombardi. His goaltending decisions last year, where a head scratcher, as was the Connolly signing. He's lost his MOJO!

Why not? It's a fair trade! If they want to throw in Mason, we could take him off of their hands.

5.5 million per year for a 28 year old 2nd line center? No thanks.

Plus getting Franson for Lebda by paying for Lombardi could be good in the long run

The Lupul/Gardiner deal was after his son died. IN fact it was almost 1 year to the day (Feb5 2010, Feb 9 2011).

The nashville deal was only mildly won?

You clearly are projecting your dislike for him. If you are going to make accusations, use facts.

Nash > Kessel
CBJ's 1st > TOR's 1st

It's a lopsided trade. It will take a lot more for that to happen.

I would rather have Nash play with Kessel, but Nash's $$ is absolutely brutal....I would hope that since Nash wants out and Howson prob wants out of Nash's contract in order to properly rebuild and balance the team financially, that Howson isn't in the drivers seat leverage wise

Edit: funny thing is, any 2 of Army, Connolly, Komi, Lombo, Schenn would almost cover Nash's salary....

Totally agree with you that Howsen is probably not in the drivers seat...but I still think it's a little far fetched that we'll be able to land him AND CBJ's 1st for Kessel and our 1st.

I think Nash will probably cost us our 1st, Gardiner, Colborne/Kadri/Frattin, and a Kulemin/Mac.

Way too steep a price if you ask me.
