But the past few years Ive come to see that there are a few, albeit huge, things that would transform our/my city into a healthy/progressive/recognized place to be.
I dunno. I think Buffalo isn't that far away from making a nice jump....and this isn't the stupid optimistic Bills fan talking. - HotSauceBlueChs
Yeah I feel you. Theres a lot of nice areas around the city that have really made comebacks. Black Rock is one of them. Central Warf, Cobblestone district. Waterfront. Anything near Deleware park is always nice. |

Savannah has a ton of the same 'historic' problems. People here are so caught up in 'preserving history' that they let abandoned shacks and literal holes in the ground stagnate for years in what are otherwise beautiful areas. In a tiny town like Savannah, it really breaks the flow of traffic, people, and business in a place that's barely getting by as it is.
I'm all for history, but there comes a point when you have to let the old (at least unfixable) buildings go in favor of fresh and functional spots. - BuffaJoe
I need to visit Savannah again soon. When I was stationed at Ft. Stewart I used to go there on the weekends... I need to take a vacation there or head there for St. Patty's day next year. |

I tried calling in to WGR but joe b was on...what i was gonna discuss was how pathetic it is that the nhl rules abruptly change as soon as they get to the playoffs. they dont call interference and they dont call roughing. if there were more power plays the postseason would be more exciting and it would actually require skill to win a cup, and not just a bunch of big goons going out and blocking a million shots
i watch every single cup game and it is just so boring to watch
it seems like the league is completely reversing from the rule changes implemented in 05-06 that were meant to make the game more exciting (which they did)
now the game is like watching paint dry - HAMgerber
They haven't called interference in years now. Remember the "obstruction" penalties they used to call? I never hear the word "obstruction" anymore. The league, as much as I love the game, is a joke.

Honestly, a lot of it stems from everyone screwing up on the Larkin building. The preservationists (many of whom I am friends with) have been overreacting since that ultimate gem was turned into a parking lot. - nfph
Larkin Building is still in use.

Talked with a rep this morning about const. companies don't want to work with anything that has to do with buffalo mayor. too many hands in the pot and greasy palms to get anything done . Friend of his has a lawsuit against buffalo because of it . Pretty much a real reason why nothing can get done in the city. |

Not this one:
Frank Lloyd Wright, incredible open concept office building. Check pictures of the inside, nothing like it in the world. It's a parking lot these days.

I used to work at Graycliff, and my sis is an architecture major. I actually love many of the old buildings in Buffalo (Richardson complex, Guarantee building, Central Terminal) but there's also a bunch of old crapshacks that people need to get over.

Architecture in downtown buffalo is amazing .People just need to take a slow walk and look up every now and then instead of texting and walking into light poles. |
