I think a suite can't be opened by buying only a couple of tickets for a particular event...It might be like 12, otherwise it stays dark. - Al
I think you are right, especially when food and beverage is involved.
Last year I needed a couple of tickets and picked up 2 for a box at the top from a guy in Billy Goats who sold tickets every game for that suite which he claimed to own. There were about 10 people in there, nobody knew anybody and food was only available by walking to a concession stand. |

Is there any concern that the Blackhawks sign Suter but they still suck? - Daman
For what it's worth from where I sit - absolutely. |

Ok, fine. Maybe he is, but you have to use the caveat 'if used properly'. Go back to Campbell and say the same thing. Keith and Campbell could probably be flipped in terms of what is expected of them, and everyone would be happy.
For example, Keith is not a PP specialist, so stop using him there. I never know if Keith has brain farts because he plays so much and he's tired, or if that's just who he is. - eburgio
I personally think Keith is very talented, but is just very dumb. Just my opinion. |

Keith is a lot better in his end than Campbell is. Campbell's better coming up ice and in the offensive zone. |

I guess you win 1 cup without a goalie and the thought process is that you can do it again.
Suter would be a disaster for Chicago. |

If Suter could be had for the right price, I'm in favor, but I just feel like someone is going to back the truck up and pay him big $. I feel like the $6-7M could be used to get 2 solid D-men that could help solidify things up and down the lineup` |

I think Keith is very talented, has great hockey sense, but he's overworked and makes bad plays because he's exhausted and lacks focus. I think he's the type of guy that will never say no to more ice time, but he needs to be hungry for it and competition from 2-3 other defensemen for the extra ice time would do him wonders. |

I think Keith can physically play 30 minutes a night, but not mentally. He makes more mistakes when his minutes get up over 26-27. Signing Suter would prolong the careers of Keith, Seabrook, and Suter, make each individually more effective, and make the Hawks much tougher to play against in the regular season and especially the playoffs. |

If they sign him for a cap hit of more than what Seabrook is making it will be a really dumb decision (read: driven by McD and not hockey). He is not THAT good.
For half of that you could get Salvador for example, and have money left to find another D man with size.
Too many holes in the lineup to put all of the eggs in one basket. |

If they sign Suter - and can keep Hjalmarsson - that's as good a top-4 defense as is in the league - 45 to 50 minutes per night of excellent defensemen.
If Hjalmarsson has to go, can move Leddy up - it will be his third season, should show improvement and more consistency - and working with either of Suter / Keith / Seabrook (probably Suter) will help his development.
Don't see how signing Suter hurts if you can at all manage the cap hit - and a decent GM would be able to make moves to make sure the cap hit is managed. |

I am thinking since DET, MIN and CHI are all rumored to be on the short list, and all are relatively close to family, it sets up money as a huge factor. The Hawk brass had better not get too enamored with him to the point of Huet/Campbell level overpayment. |

Could be.
And it could be you're completely off-base.
This sounds just like the argument that used to be made that you couldn't trade Kane—as though nothing you could get in return would ever equal or surpass the great Kaner. Well, that's silly.
If you add Suter, but make other moves that create more cap room and/or fill other holes—which is all theoretically possible— it could be a great move.
Aim before you fire.

Chicago is closer than Minneapolis, which is much closer than Detroit.
Chicago is the biggest market/best endorsement opportunities.
Chicago offers the best chance of winning and going deep in the playoffs over the next 5-10 years.
It's not just going to be about salary, I guarantee you. The facts don't lie.

No you can't. Niemi was clutch against SJ and if you don't win that series you obviously don't win the Cup. People underestimating Nemo's contribution that year is always going to bug me. |

And that goes wo saying that we still have a pretty significant hole up front that really needs to be addressed. Pending Hossa's status we could have two really big holes. |

I agree on the first two. The third one...not so much. The winged wheel has far more capacity in terms front office smarts to remake themselves as perennial winners than the Hawks do.
If this were you making a decision on who to work for, especially given your experience with the Wings, which backyard has the least amount of dog crap in it? |

I can't see that happneing...
But Hawks would have the best top three in the NHL....
Leddy is in the top 4 until he shows he can't be and that hasn't happened yet.

From ESPN Insider...(call me skeptical)
There's word Team USA teammates F Zach Parise and D Ryan Suter want to hook up as free agents with the same club this offseason. Specifically, the Detroit Red Wings.
Gregg Krupa of the Detroit News reports it's a "common assumption ... Parise and Suter are intent on signing together with a new team". While the Red Wings are reportedly sweet on both 27-year-olds, the feeling is allegedly mutual.
"I am assuming that, at least as of right now, they are a package deal," one NHL team official told the Detroit News. "They certainly seem to have set it up that way, themselves."
Before we get too ahead of ourselves, there's still a very reasonable chance Suter re-signs with the Nashville Predators. And as Parise continues to compete for the Stanley Cup with the New Jersey Devils -- a game away from clinching a spot in the Final -- there's little point in speculating too much further on his future.
However, if Parise and/or Suter end up free agent market-bound, Detroit seems to be a preferred destination. As individuals, or an unofficial two-some.
The Wings have about $44 million committed to salary for 2012-13. Assuming Tomas Holmstrom retires, Brad Stuart heads for the west coast, and Jiri Hudler signs elsewhere, the club will have sufficient cap space to accommodate both stars without issue. |

Anyone catch my brother's Eulogy for the Phoenix Coyotes? Kid Nailed it.....
http://sports.yahoo.com/b...3Rpb25z;_ylv=3#more-34060 - yahoodi
Here's all you need to know about how toxic an investment the Coyotes are: a man who already owns arguably the biggest stepchild franchise in sports in the Chicago White Sox wouldn't touch the Coyotes with a 10-foot clown pole.
I have written the same in the past...Who would want to buy anything Reisndorf passes on?? I don't think a much better deal could have been imagined and he still said No.
Very good... |
