Hi JJ!Great read,I had no idea Suter grew up a Blackhawks fan, along with their family as well...And I had no idea that Suter and Leddy had the same agent, which whether someone would like to admit it or not,can have a huge effect on where he chooses to sign....The one thing that I think may drive him away is the front office turmoil that was documented. In your opinion, could this affect his decision to sign in Chicago? |

Not likely to happen, but I would love to see Pittsburgh dump Martin and Michalek, resign Staal and make a pitch for Suter at 5.5-6mil. The result of this would not be a larger cap hit than last year, but the team would be much improved I think. The D would be:
Letang - Suter
Niskanen/Despres - Orpik
Englend/Lovejoy/Strait/Bortuzzo
I know it's a low probability thing, but I'm curious if anybody thinks the Pens would consider such movement? |

Maybe. If Suter was really going to stay in Nashville, wouldn't he have hammered out a deal already?
Nashville still has to worry about getting things settled with Weber as well. He won't be cheap. Then there is also Radulov and the Kostitsyn brothers they either have to re-sign, or replace.
Nashville only has 12 guys under contract for next season. There are a lot of holes to fill there by either re-signing players or filling those holes in with minor leaguers or other free agents. I guess the question becomes if they have enough cap room to re-sign both Suter and Weber, and fill out the rest of the roster. |

Playoffs just ended he might not have even started talks. NSH has some bodies to replace/re-sign, but just how much is everything going to cost? Suter is really the only big piece. I could see Andrei and Radulov gone anyway.
As for CHI, where do they find room for Suter? He'd be a good fit, but he'd need to take a Hossa like contract. Would he and if so would he just stay in NSH for something similar? |

theres a possiblity...theres also few other players on other teams that havent signed yet...since the playoffs are on still...NHL doesnt want them over shadowing that..hmmm.... |

I really don't know where Suter will wind up but I don't think he'll sign an extension with the Preds. Normally those things are done by now and we can only assume Nashville was offering him a very nice contract.

Suter signing in NSH is going to over shadow much. If anything it's good for the NHL to have other markets paying attention to the NHL. |

Yeah, was going on the assumption that he would take a bit less (0.5-1mil/year) to play with the pens...not sure how likely that is or not, but I don't think it would be impossible...depends on Suter. |

I bet some (desperate)teams will throw 7.O and maybe even 7.5 per at him |

In my opinion, regardless of where Suter ends up, he's cashing in.
If he really wanted to take a discount, I think he would have already done it and stayed in Nashville. Unless he's willing to take less money for some reason, such as being closer to his family in Madison, WI and also playing for a playoff team, or some other reason. I don't even see that hapeneing.
I don't think he'll go to the highest bidder, but I bet he takes a salary higher than $7 million per season when it is all said and done, and goes to the team he wants to go to. |

Agreed, but not with the "despirate" part.
I bet he ends up signing somewhere for $7 million or higher. |

5.5 or 6 is still cashing in! However, I do think that playoff teams will throw 6.5-7 at him...it was just a thought |

Why would you dump a better all around d man in Brian Campbell (remember him, he helped win you a cup) just to turn around and sign a worse player, for almost as much money?
Makes zero sense. |

Come on now. Do you really think Suter would settle for $500,000 to $1 million more than what Paul Martin makes just to play with the Penguins?
Quit fooling yourself. |

I don't see him re-signing in Nashville. There was a lot of buzz about Nashville making a run this year to show Suter and Weber they're serious. I really think that serious run was all about going for a cup while they had Suter. There's no way a team like Nashville can pay 3 dudes $7M+ and fill out a roster like they've had recently. |
