Lebron (Parise) Wade (Suter) - nickmo2699
From a cap standpoint it might work BUT many franchises don't like the idea of two $7 million players. |

Parise is fun to watch. Dude plays hard on the forecheck, is smart, always in the mix. |

Yeah - if they sign with the Panthers, then we'll know Riley's fingerprints are all over it. |

If the package deal thing is true....McBowman and company had better get Plan B rolling now - assuming they had a Plan A - assuming their plan A was Suter. |

From ESPN Insider...(call me skeptical)
There's word Team USA teammates F Zach Parise and D Ryan Suter want to hook up as free agents with the same club this offseason. Specifically, the Detroit Red Wings.
Gregg Krupa of the Detroit News reports it's a "common assumption ... Parise and Suter are intent on signing together with a new team". While the Red Wings are reportedly sweet on both 27-year-olds, the feeling is allegedly mutual.
"I am assuming that, at least as of right now, they are a package deal," one NHL team official told the Detroit News. "They certainly seem to have set it up that way, themselves."
Before we get too ahead of ourselves, there's still a very reasonable chance Suter re-signs with the Nashville Predators. And as Parise continues to compete for the Stanley Cup with the New Jersey Devils -- a game away from clinching a spot in the Final -- there's little point in speculating too much further on his future.
However, if Parise and/or Suter end up free agent market-bound, Detroit seems to be a preferred destination. As individuals, or an unofficial two-some.
The Wings have about $44 million committed to salary for 2012-13. Assuming Tomas Holmstrom retires, Brad Stuart heads for the west coast, and Jiri Hudler signs elsewhere, the club will have sufficient cap space to accommodate both stars without issue. - eburgio
Hahaha, if they hold hands like Dwade, Lebron and Bosh that is just silly. I think NJD goes to the finals and they retain him. Either way...
Toews > Parise and younger than Datsyuk
That is realistically the guy you want to play for/with especially if the Hawks do what is necessary to acquire legitimate NHL help not spare parts.
Plus Seabs and Keith > Clowns from Daytoit and Leddy / Suter could be a realistic team USA pairing come the Olympics... Plus they have the same agent as JJ said...

If they sign Suter - and can keep Hjalmarsson - that's as good a top-4 defense as is in the league - 45 to 50 minutes per night of excellent defensemen.
If Hjalmarsson has to go, can move Leddy up - it will be his third season, should show improvement and more consistency - and working with either of Suter / Keith / Seabrook (probably Suter) will help his development.
Don't see how signing Suter hurts if you can at all manage the cap hit - and a decent GM would be able to make moves to make sure the cap hit is managed. - StLBravesFan
They have so much money to spend, especially if they just move Hammer, definitively if they move Hammer and Frolik and a crazy amount if Montador hangs em up or Hossa does the same.
Either way assuming the kicker is 4 million they have close to 11 to spend... Hammer goes they have over 14... All kinds of good things can happen if they don't sit on their hands |

I don't put a lot of stock in a package plan but if so the favorite wouldn't be Detroit but most likely Minnesota.

Spending $14MM for two players and calling it an off season would be a catastrophe. No room to maneuver mid season, or for many years to come in the event of injuries, or if you want a better goalie.
If they are a package deal, they aren't coming here, and it's time to move on. |

Why would you dump a better all around d man in Brian Campbell (remember him, he helped win you a cup) just to turn around and sign a worse player, for almost as much money?
Makes zero sense. - mxgsfmdpx
Very good point but the Hawks realize they should have never let Campbell go!
Now they are trying to get a younger version and btw Suter will never skate like Soupy. |

Parise is going to get big money. If he comes to the Hawks then there is no way he is going to be making more than any of the big names. If the Hawks make a run at the pair they will need to unload Hammer and Sharp or else it will be 2010 v2. |

IF they are truly hell bent on playing together, maybe they give a small discount to the team that signs them both. If they want it bad enough, they might have to sacrifice some $ to make it easier for a team to accommodate their bromance. |

Random hypothetical...if you could get Parise for a similar cap hit and longer term, would you do it, provided you HAD to move Kane? Comes down to Kane vs Parise...who ya got?
EDIT: Ogi, i know you want Sharp moved but that's not an option |

I still think I take Kane. Parise is a Toews work ethic player, You cannot replace one of the premier set up men in the NHL. Would I love Parise on the Hawks? Yes, but why would Kane leave when SHarp is set to make 5.9 next year? Huge overpayment for a thirty year old. Move Sharp and Hammer and you can sign them both. |

I guess this is why on a previous thread you proposed a Kane for Roy and Leopold trade then....right???? |

What would a Sabres fan know about winning? Chicago or Detroit hmmm. Two of the younger Super stars in the league who have yet to hit their prime or, two guys on their way out that are often injured in Detroit. Detroit which may be the only city other than CLeveland that is worse than Buffalo or Chicago one of the big 3 in the country.
On the topic of winning, your nuts if you think Detroit is going to be more successful in the next five years than Chicago is. |

I want to believe this, but remember Detroit has a real GM, and a coach with a clue, Chicago has neither. |

Cool. Send Sharp and Hammer to Pittsburgh for Staal and a throw in (Lovejoy). That works, cap-wise, for both parties. If you can throw Montador on LTIR or shed yourself of Frolik, you could sign Parise and Suter. Even if you don't shed those guys, you could still do it provided the cap goes up to, say, 69M as projected.

Yes please answer why me being a Sabres fan has any effect on my opinion that the Blackhawks may not be better than the Red Wings over the next 5-10 years. |
