I don't like the thought of CLB moving up at all. The thought of taking Yakupov makes me queasy. I have doubts about Yakupov, which admittedly come from Zherdev and Nikita "Filly don't do rebounds" Filatov. I much rather play it safe and solidify our D with Murray or Reinhart. Plus, losing the 1st in the lottery to Edm was already bad enough, but to then giving up an asset just to move back up to the spot would just not feel right.

Sad thing is that with my lack of confidence in Howson, I could see him doing a Nash, Johansen, Johnson, 2012 1st, 2013 1st, and the 2014 1st just to move up one slot this year.

Everyone remember from the first season of Oil Change at the 2010 draft. They attempted to get the 4th spot for Johansen (I believe) but it would cost Eberle. Tambo didn't pull the trigger. Maybe it was just the 4th pick, but regardless it was a trade with CBJ (correct if wrong).

Remember at the trade deadline when Hemmer was on the block and rumored to go, he signed Hemsky because Hemsky didn't bring in a good return. He traded Penner because he got the best return you were going to get.

Tambellini won't get ripped off. If someone is not overpaying, he's not making the trade. If he did attempt to get Johansen in 2010, my bet is if he is talking to Howson, he's trying again. If he doesn't get Johansen, then we will probably just take Yakupov.

The other options from CBJ are David Savard, Boone Jenner, and John Moore (can't find him on hockeysfuture) - is he the one with the off ice issues or is that Jeremy Morin in Chicago? Always get them mixed up

I don't think he's that dumb. I know there is no evidence to the contrary so this is just a hunch.

I don't believe the pick flip scenario for a second. It doesn't make sense.

It's not going to happen with the names you mention (less the Howson idiocy factor). What's the point?

Actually, I prefer songs that are about actual stuff instead of mindless, meaningless, over-sexualized-for-no-reason fluff.

They actually had great music before Mutt Lange convinced them they could sell millions without putting any musical talent into their work.

trade down and include gagner for the 10th and lecavalier
(tampa has 2 1st rounders and I'm sure would love to open up some salary cap room to try and add a good goalie).

- kelholtz

Dude...Seriously?!?!?!

Vinny has not played more than 65 games over the past 2 seasons. Other than being able to score 20 goals consistently he has not produced over 54 points in the last 2 years. His contract is much, much too long (lasts until 2020) and much, much too high (7.7/year).

And you think we give up Gagner in that deal. A player that is 10 years younger and has produced fairly similarly while playing more games over the past 2 years.

One players is on a hard ride down and is completely untradeable, while the other is a developing player on the rise.

And you think we drop 9 spots, giving up the best player in the draft, while having to add a player with a bright future to get Vinny.

You sure you an Oiler fan?

Ok I have a serious question here....... What is with the hatred towards Nickelback?? 100% honest inquiry here I am not in Canada so I don't get the constant radio play ppl complain about and I do get that most of the pop music stuff sounds similar but seriously they are a great band!! I like the harder hitting stuff like Burn it, Animals among others and don't understand the hate they get from ppl!! Yeah they sound the same as does EVERY band, ACDC has the worst case of the soundthesames yet no ones female doges about them!! I for one like Nickelback and can honestly say I don't get why ppl hate on them so much, They are the most successful Canadian band ever (maybe this is why)? I know success breeds hatred but seriously folks I am 100% certain any and all of your favorite bands sound the same!!
- undisputed_8821

OK, I have a serious answer for you! Nickleback has to be one of the cheesiest bands ever assembled. People make fun of them because they suck, a chimpanzee has more creativity in its pinky then them(I'd like to apologize to all primates for this reference). Also, I'd think Geddy Lee may have something to say about Nickleback being the "most successful Canadian band"?

First time I heard them was a song called Breathe, which i actually liked. I also liked How you Remind me when it first came out but lordy, overplayed and basically since then its like one prepackaged song after another. Ahh the green day/offspring/nickelback power chords. We're all musicians now!

Also reminds me of a song by Sloan where he is just singing what chord he is playing... G...and down to C and finally D..eeeee...

On a related note, I did think that video where they had people walking around with a timer counting down was neato. Can't prove it but I'm sure they stole it from somewhere too.

My point was obvious. Tambo won't make the trade unless howson overpays. History shows this on his part.

Though I'm not a huge fan of Green Day and the Offspring I don't think they should even be used in the same sentence as Nickleback? Nickleback is just a nauseating band. For someone to look at them as being "heavy" or a tough band as that guy was describing is funny. They are a bunch of no talent pansies. Besides, their lead singers name is Chad.

You can say what you want, its the same "power chord" for pretty much all of their songs back in the day. Basketcase, when I come around... then entire dookie cd was all the same. Offspring was the same as well. It is what it is. Not saying they are the same band, just saying the chords are the same... although in Green day's case, the singer is the lead guitarist so he's allowed to cut corners... hehe.

"Habs Accidentally Hire Spanish-Speaking Head Coach
"Ci sounds too much like oui," explained Habs GM Marc Bergevin. "It's a mistake anyone could make. Please don't fire me, Quebec!" Bergevin went on to add that the one upside of the hiring is that the new coach could perhaps turn around the career of Scott Gomez."

I actually laughed at this

Yeah i Don't think he is that stupid either. I am not sure where people keep getting these crazy ideas that Columbus is going to or even should trade an asset plus the 2nd just to move up to number 1. Its not like they wont have a quality future star to pick in the number 2 spot. Giving up assets to get the 1st and keep the second makes more sense but would require a huge overpayment and its not very often teams trade away their 1st overall pick. I think its pretty safe to say, that come draft day the oil will be picking 1st and most likely will be taking yak, unless some huge blockbuster deal takes place but that just isn't tamby's style.

Singing and playing is tough. I hear you as far as chords are concerned, I love AC/DC and they have to be one of the most basic bands there are? They are still awesome and have one of the best rythm guiotarists in Rock and Roll(as well as lead). To me it's not all about chords, it's about content and style. Neither of which Nickleback has any. They are pure cheddar.

Green day and the Offspring are really no more talented musically than Nickleback and they all use pretty simple easy riffs and a narrow variety of chords. The difference is that the first 2 bands write better songs that arent full of cliche bullpoop (see rockstar lyrics for example) they also have a better sound than nickleback. And last but not least, they haven't tried to spew out a crappy pop type sound that nickleback has changed to in the last few years in order to keep selling to the sheep that lap up that pop crap. They stopped using any talent they had shortly after "how you remind me" went stupid crazy big and turned em into instant millionaires overnight. Oh and plus chad kroeger is a giant douche canoe
