That picture is why they are my most hated team in all of sports. - rockychocbill
Yeah, and they both are still so relevant to the current....oh wait, not so much.
By the way, Claude Lemieux the cat is rooting for the Kings.
For those of you who were saying they should do a 24/7 during the playoffs. Something similar (although much more condensed) on Sunday night at 8 on the NHL Network in the U.S. Not sure where it will be on in or when in Canada. |

I don't care if it was 15 years ago or 15 minutes ago. I will NEVER cheer for that franchise. I hate all the Atlantic Division franchises for what they've done to the Flyers over the years. And I hate the Devils the most.
Isn't Pawed Lemieux cheering for the wrong team then? |

Let me preface this by saying that I like the trades of Richards/Carter and I think they are great trades for the future as I love the players we got in return.
However, while watching the game last night I couldn't help but think... would Flyers be in the cup if they only traded Carter, which would have still allowed them to sign Bryz.
Love him or hate him, Richards is an absolute force in the playoffs. Brayden Schenn had a pretty good playoffs but Simmonds was mediocre at best during the playoffs.
So I float the question which will drum up much debate I am sure... would the Flyers have been better off THIS SEASON if they had kept Richards and only traded Carter?
One thing is for sure, the Kings would not be playing in the SCF without trading for Richards, which resulted in them trading for Carter as well. |

I don't buy that keeping Richards gets the Flyers to the SCF. The three biggest reasons the Kings are where they are are Jon Quick, Dustin Brown and Anze Kopitar. Those 3 had zero to do with the Flyers and the trades.
Richards and Carter have helped, but they haven't been driving the bus. |

Do you agree that if the LA Kings don't make the trade for Richards in the offseason they are not in the cup right now? They probably wouldn't even have made the playoffs.. |

Richards didn't play that big a role for the Kings this year. Jonathon Quick was far more vital to the Kings being where they are than Richards. I'd say that if you had to rank the players in terms of importance to where the Kings are now, Richards would be behind Quick, Brown, Kopitar and Doughty at the very least. Maybe even behind Justin Williams, Willie Mitchell and Rob Scuderi in terms of playoff importance.
Richards hasn't played badly, but he's definitely a second tier guy for LA. He's certainly helped them, but he hasn't be the reason they are where they are. I think that Richards or not, they're still close to where they are. |

I do. Doesn't always have to be about stats. I just think alot of flyer fans are just plain bitter. |

I'm actually not bitter at all, I just look back at the Kings during the regular season and the turning point for them was re-uniting Richards and Carter. Once they acquired Carter their season turned around and they went into the playoffs hot and have not looked back.
Does that happen if they did not acquire Richards in the offseason? I don't think i does. |

What am I bitter about? I really don't care if the Kings and Richards/Carter win the cup. I am simply looking at the situation and had the Flyers done what was expected and just traded Carter, where both teams would have been. The Richards trade was completely unexpected and it is interesting to me to dissect the situation had they not made that trade. That's all |
