They might use it, but it doesn't mean they are actually big which is what the media wants to push.

And 2-3 years from now, the boys we have will be mature bodies.

For sure I think Hall and Yak will become good sized men who will be tough to manhandle.... however, before they start doing that I want them both to learn to take some freaking care with their own health on the ice!

Are we really drawing comparisons with kopitar, carter, penner, even brown, to that of gagner, nuge, eberle and hemsky? Even if u could find an argument to compare 190 to 205 ( which is a big difference btw) the styles of play and sheer strength difference of the 2 groups mentioned isnt close.

I said top 6, u retorted with top 9. Finding size and sandpaper on a defensive, grinder line isnt a problem. Size amongst our top 6 is.

Do i even need to bother reminding you what some of the more physical and relentless teams did to our small and young group this past season?

As a quasi side note, the Kings aren't actually that big... the media seems obssed with size, so they are pretending the Kings are this huge team.

Heres the wieghts of a handful of their top 9:

204
199
194
199
191

The only guys in the top 9 that really have impressive size are Penner and Kopitar..... and you know how Oiler fans think Penner plays like a 190 pounder.

They have players who are either big (Penner) or play big. (Brown, Richards).

Well said.

I wouldnt say a word if 2 of our smaller 'skill' top 6 scorers played anything like richards or brown.

And no hall does not

Hall well eventually. Might not be like Brown crushing everyone, but once he gets size I can really see him playing a similar game to a Nash.

This is the problem with bringing in 18 and 19 year olds into the NHL. RNH I don't think will ever play big, but PRV and Yak I think along with Hall will eventually be guys that you don't worry about their size.

I really feel like prv is such an important piece for us. If we can comfortably slot him into the top 6, along with a maturing hall and yakupov, our size issues could be moot.

U wouldnt even hear me b1tchin about gags much!

I hope PVR comes into training camp with an edge- if he does I could see him really making things tight considering TOP 6 minutes... And it would also likely end up pushing Hemsky out or motivating him to actually do something this year.

I still would like a banger with skill at some point, but a solid PRV will go a long way.

I mentioned it in cuddle bears thread, I think Hemsky's issue was his shoulder this year. He sure was a different player come WC's. Lets just hope that the only problem was him recovery this year.

For sure... I hope he has a fire lit in his ass... With the linemates he will have he should get 60pts easy this year if he can use his (frank)ing talent... Otherwise move him to the side and let the kids go... I do think he could teach the kids a few things and they could end up really clicking this upcoming season... I am very hopeful for him and the fans that supported him (myself included) the last 3 years when he was basically injured the whole time as he is world talent...and now he should have the health and linemates to use it

He was looking dynamite in OKC during the playoffs on a line with Harti. I also learned this year that Lander played on a team with PRV in Sweden. I wanna see PRV-Lander-Harti as a top 6 line in OKC until they get their confidence up, because I could see all three of them making the big club in the future.

Well Hall wants to be a better play maker, sure would be nice if Hemsky sat down with him and did some video review to teach him. RNH could use Hemsky as well, RNH is quite good but I'm sure Hemsky could teach him a bit.

You are officially slower than LB. Although I do agree with you on the OKC line. Will depend what else is there next year, but it should be doable.

Their top 6 isn't big either, the only guy with well above average size in their top 6 is Kopitar.

I'm not comparing anything, I'm saying that the Kings aren't a big team. It's a media lie trying to spin their story line.

The small bodied Kings players were young, immature bodies at one time as well. They don't seem to be batterd up now.

I just watched Yaks meet the press interview... I think he is going to impress more than Hall and that is saying alot... But this kid really wants it (just like Hall) or at least he interviews that way... Horcoff should give him #10....

How many think we should go after TooToo? I think he could help us out a bit, mind you a healthy Eager could go a long way as well... One thing I will say about Eager is he did take a few silly penalties but nothing like Moreau used to... That guy cost us alot of games due to penalties at the wrong time...

Except how many of those small guys were thrown into a big role at 18 years old in the NHL? Sure Kopitar and Brown, but one has size and one uses his size.

Williams started out playing a very limited role behind the likes of Langkow, Recchi, Primeau, Leclair, Tocchet etc...

Carter started with some AHL under his belt at 20 playing 12 minutes a night with Knuble, Handzus, Gagner, Forsberg, Nedved, Kapanen in front of him.

Richards same boat as Carter.

Penner started at 24 had his size.

Brown had 10 minutes his first year, 2nd year of AHL, and even his first full year under 14 minutes a night.

As opposed to the Oilers where Gagner started playing just about 16 minutes a night. And the rest a lot more.

Tootoo or Prust, even with a healthy Eager. Keep in mind players in this role always take stupid penalties. Tootoo will take them, Prust will take them. It comes with the role. If you want someone that's going to help deter the other team, you have to take those over the limit penalties from time to time.

Why Mac never took a 5 minute major and clocked someone in a scrum is beyond me. Instead he waits until he is back in the AHL to kick the poop out of a goalie. A must see video I might add.

They even interviewed both and that's where a lot of the Lander is a great leader came from. (frank) they might've even said it right after they drafted the kid when TSN does their info on the players.

Ya I'm still not overly worried about them getting too battered, piles of guys start at 18/19 and they aren't any worse for wear.
