Habs have the money to buy him out, they just don't want the cap hit. What ever money they pay to get him out, that's money they don't share as part of the revenue sharing at the end of the year. - Symba007

It will cost more than Komisarek and a 5th or 6th rounder to get Luongo. I stand by the notions the Canucks wont give Luongo away for free.
As mentioned in previous discussion, it would maybe look like:
Fransen or Gardiner + Armstrong or Komisarek + a 2nd rounder.
For
Luongo
Gillis may not have alot of GM's interested in Luongo, but there will be more than just the Leaf's trying to get him draft day. If the Leaf's get him, it will cost a roster player of value and a bad contract back. - CanuckforLife
Good luck with that. |

same here, I really want Gomez gone and I don't want him in Hamilton dragging his feet with a bunch of rookies around watching this lazy bastard. |

I like him, his speed is awesome but he needs a change of scenery... I would like a late 2nd or early 3rd for his rights and that could be conditional on a resign. I'm not sure if that's fair market value though. - I-own_da-Northwest
For the price someone call Minnesota Wild and let them know. They can use him |

First
I don't mind the idea of getting Bobby Lu cheap and love getting Schultz for nothing ...
And I LOVE the idea of moving #5 for a top center ....
Any chance of getting Getzlaf with that pick ? And what more would it cost ? - .HOHO.
I know that's a great pick, but why would the ducks ever do that? The best center would be nick bonino. If you want to win 10 games this season then go for it. I highly doubt the ducks would ever do it. However, I have seen murray do stranger things.. |

If that's what they're looking for then get ready for an offer sheet for Schneider. The guy asked for a trade and has a horrible contract and is 33 years old. - Ihatebrianburke
Ok sheep......regurgitate more of the media drivel why don't you....Schnieds aint getting offer sheeted.....and hypothetically if he did, Canucks would match.....
Bottom line, Luo isn't going to be given away and if Gillis doesn't get his asking price, he stays....ain't no thang...... |

If it's Burke, he's looking to get all the blood he can out of the stone. I think that would mean Franson + Komi + 2013 2nd, if possible. That leaves him open to take a dman 5th to play with Gardiner, Schenn, Gunnarson and Phaneuf in the future. |

I think possibly a Franson/Macarthur/2nd for Luongo/Raymond/3rd type deal is what we can expect....... |

''I'm happy for the Kings and their fans though. At least there's a fan base in LA. I hate it when the cup goes to a city where no one cares. LA has been a great hockey town since Gretzky arrived."
thanks for that, the kings are the talk of the town, and even with all the bandwagon fans, its nice to be the center of attention for once.
and to the oiler fan yesterday, who told me that "hall wasn't injury prone, he was accident prone" can you tell me the difference? please. |

Dubnyk looks pretty good.
I certainly think he exists at the very least.

Getting head skated on in warmup wouldnt make you injury prone, would it?

Richard Cloutier: Draft Thoughts and Randoms - Maxbone
The oilers should definitely keep Belanger
Moving Kesler = blowing things up for Vancouver.
I think Calgary keeps their pick. They don't like to blow it up, but they also tend to hold on to their 14th pick prospects.
Can't really comment on the other teams, except for the Luongo-Toronto stuff. |

Frankly I think that's too much cap space to take on for Toronto. They don't really have that much room to with, Luongo alone may not get them to the playoffs, and they wouldn't have the cap space to bring in another top6er if they did that move.
Either Komi is included on TO's end, or Lu is the only contract on Van's end. |

Youre assuming that another contract isn't moved somewhere else.......but yes, I get your point..... |

Let's say they do trade Hemsky or Gagner for a late first round pick, a use it to draft a defenseman. Does that really make a whole lot of sense? Granted Gagner and/or Hemsky isn't what we need because they aren't larger, physical forwards, drafting a D man will only put another young kid into the system that needs at least 3 years to develop, and then maybe be worth something to us. Instead, keep Gagner and Hemsky in the lineup where they can potentially do well and get us some offense.
Obviously we need more size up front, but unless we are trading either of those players for a larger body (which isn't likely), we really dont gain anything, except another prospect that we might talk about in 2015.
I don't see much of a point in trading hemsky or gagner for a pick that we won't even make use of for quite a while. Yes, it's good to draft potentially good defenseman if you can, and develop them, but I don't think our roster will be changing enough, or improving enough to make any sense of it. |
