If I were any GM, I would be trying to bank picks for 2013 draft as its going to be a stronger one.
The talent this year has been described as a weak year, and after the top 10 in the first round, it really trails off. - CanuckforLife
these things are always said about the next years draft...and the same things are generally said about the current years draft.
I heard last year that this year will be a deep draft...then as the draft day approaches the tune slowly swings the other way... |

I think possibly a Franson/Macarthur/2nd for Luongo/Raymond/3rd type deal is what we can expect....... - chompsey
I can actually see something like that going down. I'm sure both sides could live with it. |

If it's Burke, he's looking to get all the blood he can out of the stone. I think that would mean Franson + Komi + 2013 2nd, if possible. That leaves him open to take a dman 5th to play with Gardiner, Schenn, Gunnarson and Phaneuf in the future. - Morris
Don't forget to include Schultz. |

yes. yes it does. im not trolling, but your splitting hairs. thats some unlucky poop right there. lol - Deadmau55
Hall got his hairs split on that one.
I think the 'one in a million freak injury' cant really be counted in a case for a guy being injury prone.
Hall had a nagging shoulder injury since junior that he's getting fixed now, and he was able to play through that for a couple years, and take some hellish hits and keep going.
Kids pretty tough.

Frankly I think that's too much cap space to take on for Toronto. They don't really have that much room to with, Luongo alone may not get them to the playoffs, and they wouldn't have the cap space to bring in another top6er if they did that move.
Either Komi is included on TO's end, or Lu is the only contract on Van's end. - Morris
I kinda think Komi and a 2nd is pretty fair considering the contract that Luongo has .
Thoughts ?

CanucksforLife. What is Mason Raymond worth in your opinion? Do you like him? Should they trade him? If so for what? - Mathwil3
I would trade Raymond. He is a fast, former 20+ goal scorer, but seems to have lost his finish. A change of scenery would definately benefit Raymond. He is a RFA this year, if a team were to make an offer, I would let him walk and take the pick (probably sign for $1.5 to $2.0 and worth a 2nd in compensation I believe)
If I were offered a 2nd or 3rd, I would take in a heartbeat. As far as a roster player coming back, 3rd or 4th liner or 5th or 6th Defenceman.
He is too soft of a player on a team that desperately needs to toughen up. Trade him to the Ducks and put him on a line with Parros and it might rekindle his game. I would actually trade Raymond for Parros, thats a player the Canucks could use
My humble opinion. |

Youre assuming that another contract isn't moved somewhere else.......but yes, I get your point..... - chompsey
True. I guess it's more like If I had to guess, Burke would rather his acquisition be closer to cap even but would settle for having to make a move elsewhere to make it work. Then again, they'll have a lot of cap room to work with until september 1st... |

The oilers should definitely keep Belanger
Moving Kesler = blowing things up for Vancouver.
I think Calgary keeps their pick. They don't like to blow it up, but they also tend to hold on to their 14th pick prospects.
Can't really comment on the other teams, except for the Luongo-Toronto stuff. - Morris
Not necessarily. If the powers that be are fed up with him in Van City, I can see him being moved. And not just for prospects/picks. I think they could get a decent return for him and go in a different direction while still remaining competitive. |

Yeah, I don't know that Vancouver would be very happy, but maybe if you threw in a prospect/RFA of some kind.
For the record Komi has an unfortunate contract, but I think he might actually rebound with a change of scenery and responsibility. |

that is an accident...no injury prone. Gags getting his wrist slit open while sitting on the bench is a freak accident it would not make him injury prone.
That is like saying Crosby is injury prone because he got an elbow to the head a few times. |

That's actually very close to how I see it going down.
Komi, a 2nd and a mid-level prospect (D'Amigo/Blacker/Rynnas, etc)

But what im asking is, whats the difference? Its safe to say an accident is not a good thing right? and when your playing hockey, and if accident happens, your going to get hurt. accident prone, injury prone.

It depends on whether you consider the prone in 'injury prone' to denote and inclination in the empirical or the metaphysical sense. Certainly falling on a skate in warmup does not suggest a likelihood to suffer that or similar injuries in the future. But I think some of the unluckiness surrounding Hall's injuries shows that it might be as likely that he never has a 60-game season again as it is that he'll only ever have 60 game seasons. I think the truth lies somewhere in the middle - I'd predict a couple full seasons, and a couple short ones. |

Due to the fact I have no clue who you are, and don't remember ever discussing anything with you, hugging is not necesary......but it'll take some give and take from both sides, but as long everyone realizes Luongo will not get fair value in return compared to his skills, it'll be easier to be happy with a deal. |

He scored 20 once, 3 years ago. He may have 20 goal potential but I would act like he is a consistent 20 goal scorer. He is closer to a 15 g/yr guy than a 20. |

do you think with all the potential super stars the oil have... they will be able to keep them all? maybe im over valuing them a little bit, but ive never seen so much talent in one place. And if they turn out to be great players, you can expect them to be payed like it.

Who knows... if they are all good enough to warrant 8 mill a year, thats a good problem to have.
Deal with it when it arises.

I think many people (myself included) associate "injury prone" as being continuously injured as a direct result of your style of play. This is not the case with Hall. |
