ummmmmm theirs no way in hell gardiner is getting traded - LEAFSfan28191
Sorry, totally meant Fransen OR Shenn. I agree Gardiner wouldnt be involved. |
|
|

I wouldn't do either of those deals. With the 13th pick we're not gonna get anyone as good as gags and Hemsky is worth more than Daley and a 4th. If you want Hemsky and a 3rd for the 13th overall you've got yourself a deal. - Ihatebrianburke
I was just throwing up a trade with exact criteria cloutier laid down. 10-20 for gagner and 20-30 pick for hemsky. I figured Daley was worth a late 1st and your guys need at D would be better suited for imideate help on the blue line. 100% no way I would want to give up the 13th pick for hemsky, plus a 3rd. Not atleast until he plays a full 82 games and earns his contract. |

Take Franson hes yours man Schenner i still think is staying put. |
|

For us to take Souray you guys would have to give up your next 5 years of first rounders, oh and we might throw in Horcoff. The first overall and Eberle isn't going to happen, not even in your dreams. - hemskyis#1
Mine was an obvious joke, I'm having a hard time telling if yours is. |

Kesler sorta sounds like Kessel. I think that trade would be right up Burkies alley. The picks for Kesler, the players for Luongo |

With the goalie market like it is, you take a superstar ten times out of ten, even if his contract isn't great. He wasn't terrible in the playoffs, and he played in front of a sub par D (Sorry canucks fans) And if your defense, and your system, is as good as other leafs fans say it is, well that gets the ball rollin. - Deadmau55
The only saving grace I'd find if we do deal for Luongo is that we wouldn't give up too much for him. I wouldn't be crazy about it, but I wouldn't completely hate it either. If it provides 7-10 more wins and a playoff berth, I'm sure most Leaf fans would ultimately forgive the contract.....at least for a little while.

The players are way too little for Luongo. Lets face it, that trade addresses our first line centre and our goalie. Its not like we're getting Galchenyuk, Montreal is taking him, and even if Grigs is there Burke won't take him. Its not like our 2013 pick is going to be anything special with Luongo between the pipes and Lupul Kesler Kessel as our top line. That makes us a contender |

I dont know why Leaf's fans are acting like getting Luongo is like catching the plague, despite his contract, he will make the Leaf's a better team, give them a chance to win every night and make the playoffs instead of the team melting down in the second half.
I can hear it now. October and November are brutal months for Luongo, he is always bad the 1st two months of the season and Toronto will want to murder him and all involved in trading for him. Come December when he heats up, T.O. fans are going to be acting like Luongo is the best thing since sliced bread.
Come April, they will be calling Luongo Jesus with his long flowing hair and playoff beard leading them into the first playoffs in ages. - CanuckforLife
We're scared because if it doesn't work out, then we're royally (frank)ed up the wazoo. |

I got the trade right here.
To TOR- Luongo and Kesler
To VAN- 2012 1st rounder, 2012 second rounder, 2013 1st rounder, Schenn, Armstrong, Connolly - Suckitcrosby
Sorry, no way that ever happens. First of all, I think Burke is done trading any 1sts or 2nds for anyone whose name starts with 'Kes'....or anybody for that matter. I can see a Kesler + Luongo to the Leafs cuz Kesler is a Burke type player, but that would not be the return. |

Obviously everyone has their own rating system, just like each team's GM. What you feel is valuable or fair will obviously differ from what I think is fair because we value our respective assets differently. Ultimately it would come down to what Gillis and Burke and general consensus feel is fair.....and how they rank each asset involved. And everyone has unspoken untouchables.....
Having said that, I would propose something along the lines of:
To TOR: Luongo, Kesler
To VAN: Schenn, Komisarek, Kulemin, Colborne, 2nd
Schenn would be the stabilizing defensive d-man that could flourish in Vancouver.
Komisarek is the salary dump for taking on Lu's contract.
Kulemin, despite his off-year, is still a solid two-way top 6 winger....he could fly with the Sedins if AV wishes to play him there....or he can solidy your 2nd line.
Colborne is a big centre, one of our top 3 prospects.
2nd round pick, which is basically like a late 1st.
Luongo is the starter Toronto needs and Kesler is the centreman Toronto needs.

This is ridiculous. No GM is taking Kulemin(an inconsistent player), Komisarek (basically garbage), Schenn, Colborne and a 2nd for an Elite Goalie and a Selke Winner. Stop drinking the Kool Aid. If you want value, your gonna have to give value. Don't get me wrong, Schenn and Colborne are great, but Colborne is a 2nd line centre and Schenn is a 3-4 defender...maybe higher, but unlikely. Yes Luongo has a hideous contract, but get real, it doesn't offset this deal that much. I barely do the deal for Kesler alone if I was Gillis. Add something of value.

But that's you and that's exactly my point. If Gillis feels it's time to go a different direction, that might be a deal he makes. To call the offer ridiculous is in itself ridiculous because it is your opinion. There are a lot of 'ridiculous' proposals made on this website. I would hardly call that one of them. Remember, Kesler had an off-year himself and you won't get more than a salary dump, mid-level prospect and a 2nd - 4th round draft pick for Luongo anyway. Especially when the market for him is almost non-existent. |

So by that logic, and referring to your trade, if Colborne is the prospect, the pick is the second rounder and Komisarek is the dump...than Schenn+Kulemin= Kesler....run that by any other team and see how that goes over |

You seem to be the only one who thinks that would be enough. Speaking objectively here I would say that a Komisarek, MacArthur, and Franson for Luongo deal would make sense. If you wanted Kesler you would probably have to add your 2012 1st, Colborne, and Gardiner/Schenn.
Even then it wouldn't happen. What some people are unable to understand is the concept of "fair value". Just because you have offered what you think a player is worth in a trade doesn't mean it will be accepted. This isn't NHL 12. Sure, Gardiner and Colborne + your 2012 1st would probably be "fair value", but there is no way that trade would happen because there is nothing coming back to Vancouver that would help them as much as Kesler does. |
