It as simple as this:
You want it? You will have to make a proposal that will be an overpayment.
Too much? Then you don't want it bad enough.
Don't want it? Don't worry about what it will cost to get it. - OilHorse
Its as simple as this:
"We arent trading the pick" the whole overpayment thing is a given for any asset. |

Then there is no point in proposing trades for it because it won't be traded for. - zach parise9
Which is why 1st overalls never get traded.

Adding to this:
Getzlaf/Perry were murdered by the percentages(and, in Perry's case, expected regression). poopty on-ice save percentage, poopty shooting percentage -- individually, and as a team when on the ice.
The killer part was really Getzlaf. His career shot percentage is about 12%, and he was coming off of a season where he benefited from some bounces. Nineteen goals, 16% shooter overall. His assist numbers were through the roof thanks to Perry/Ryan/Whoever burying most of their chances.
This year? He dropped to 5%. Seriously, from 16% to 5%. That's (frank)ing beyond inexplicable. Nikolai Kulemin thinks that's brutal. With his offense limited and Perry's offense naturally regressing -- well, disaster.
Getzlaf better bring it back up next year. I'm hopeful he can. - Travis Yost

I like discussing the value of assets. The true value, not inflated values that teams put on their own assets. |

I mean they do have like 60 million in cap space... and only like 15 players to sign. |

True value is determined by the buyer and the seller, not the opinions of fans. The price of a 1st overall will be overpriced. Just the way it is. |

I never said it did. 99.999999% of what is discussed on this site never happens. Just looking for things to talk about until the draft and UFA starts. |

I mean it wasn't terrible... Horton = MAF... MAF didn't have a ton of impact on Pitts success... but he did his job.
Looking at that trade.... 1st overall... and 73rd overall for 3rd overall... 55th overall... and sammuelson (low end prospect)
Doesn't exactly sound like a killing of a deal... most deals that involve moving up a few spots are actually all quite similar. i.e sedin trade.

I was thinking more of the JBo for Nash one. |

OH...
I dont like JBLOW or Nash to be honest... Jbo was pretty good for Florida... and neither did much for their respective teams.
That trade was the 1st overall pick for the 3rd overall pick and the option to switch 1st round positions in 2003.
THATS IT |

Well it didn't exactly hurt them either....
But taking a look at most trades involving moving up in the draft... they usually involve either swapping 2nd picks... or a later pick and a low to mid level prospect. |

That's a titty good suggestion. If mammary serves me correct, that's probably the breast suggestion I've ever heard. |
