No. You read it wrong. It would be the Oilers 1st and a second asset for Subban and the 3rd overall pick. Or it would be the Oilers 1st for Schenn and the Leafs 5th overall pick. |

what are you going to write about after the draft on friday, 9 days of Shultz blogs till its July 1st? |
|
|
|
If Grigorenko is still available at 6, why wouldn't Anaheim just take him? They need centers too. Unless Gagner is going to grow 6" in the next month or the Oilers are interested in throwing in a defense man such as Schultz (Nick, not Justin), Smid, or maybe even Peckham, they'll hang on to that #6. |

What kind of cereal would it take to get Omark, exactly? |

Hey, ask @treenasoil that question. The "Gagner to Anaheim" rumor isn't one I came up with. If I am Anaheim, I'm drafting the best player available. They need D and they need forwards. They pretty much need everything. |

If the Ducks are picking, it'll be Reinhart or Dumba if you ask me. They need D.
Seeing as it keeps coming up that the Ducks seem interested in Sammy, would you do something like him, Peckham/Plante, and our 2nd for the 6th? |

Perhaps.
The only reason why I could see the Ducks wanting to move the pick is to address depth issues. Saku has re-signed, and I'm pretty sure the NHL will get one more year of Teemu, but the team could potentially lose Selanne, Koivu, Perry, Visnovsky and Getzlaf all next summer. Talk about completely killing a team. The Ducks; a team already stuggling with depth issues, needs to add kids immediately.
You could see a massive deal. Something like a 4 for 2 situation. Something like Sam Gagner, Theo Peckham, Magnus Paajarvi and Edmonton's 2nd round pick for Lubomir Visnovsky and Anaheim's 1st round pick (6th overall). The Ducks would get a stack of young players, and the Oilers would get an immediate Top 4 defenseman and a quality draft pick, in which they could take one of Forsberg, Grigorenko, Galchenyuk or Faksa (best center available). |

Any competent GM could make this team a playoff team during the off season, especially with so many assets to work with. If we aren't battling for a playoff spot next April Tambellini's done. |

If the Oilers to trade Hemsky to the Bruins for their pick I think it would be better if they took a goalie in Vasilevski or Subban since both goalies could be gone before the 32nd overall pick. I'm sure a solid d-man will still be available for the Oilers to select come the 2nd round like Koekkoek, Lindholm, Schmaltz, or Thrower if teams decide to pass on them in the 1st round. I personally think it would be a smarter idea to shop Whitney instead of Gagner to try and acquire another top 10 pick. A team like Minnesota could use some defense so maybe a trade like:
MIN: Whitney, 32nd Overall, 2nd Rounder(2013 via ANA), Hamilton
EDM: 7th Overall, 4th Rounder
Resulting in Oilers Drafting:
1st - Nail Yakupov
7th - Griffin Reinhart OR Morgan Rielly
24th - Andrei Vasilevski
Only thing that could make this better would be if Schultz signs but this is just a little thought that came to mind... |
