It will be interesting, if the Habs do let Galchenyuk past the 3rd pick. I wonder what happens at 4?
- PrinceLH

Unless they trade the pick they will pick a d-man possibly Reinhart makes sence

From what we are being told, thats the asking price for Nash. Two roster players, a prospect and two pick. I would also take it in a heartbeat if I were CBJ.
- coolehmon41

Not a chance that Michalek is included in a trade between Ottawa and Columbus. Michalek scored five more goals than Nash. Ottawa will give them a good return but it will be nothing off their top two lines.

Think much bigger. Burke wants to make a splash -- a Getzlaf or Staal sized splash.

It will be interesting to see how leaf fans act when lou carries them to the playoffs. They will probably say they knew he was good all along

In my opinion, we should draft at 5, not give up even more assests to move up. We should not try to get Nash. Cap hit is way to high, plus what we would have to give up. Was on the fence with Luongo, but i think the cap hit is too much for too long. I think we should stay the coarse, rebuild. If the right free agent or trade makes sense, do it. Do not allow other Gms to deal from strengh. I know, I am as frustrated as the rest of my fellow leaf fans.
- Crustman

Tell it like it is, brutha.

Luongo's not going to carry this team on his back. He's put up good numbers over his career but he's not a Conn Smythe kind of goalie that would deliver us to the promised land; even if he does get us into the playoffs (which I think he would), we're not strong enough to make any noise once we get there and when we are strong enough, Lou will be on the decline and a cap burden.

No one is going to overpay for Luongo. If Gillis doesn't want to take a reasonable offer then he can hold onto him until he's demanding a trade a few months into the season. He'll be dirt cheap by that point.
- Jeffmt

Will be interesting to see if anyone blinks. I think both GMs are too stubborn to budge.

For me getting probably the best player in the draft at a position of need is a big enough splash

I hope so! I don't want to see Luongo, here in Leafs Nation. Maybe we can offer sheet Cary Price and then Lou can go home to Montreal.

Not many on here questioning whether he's good and he would be a God if he did. Some here still think it's a bad idea.

Those are their 2 primary choices.. however i read that montreal is in favour of dealing their pick, which i find hard to believe....
- peddy-93

Bergy said on TSN tonight that he is picking the best player available, even if that means a defenseman. If Columbus doesn't take Murray I think its possible that the Habs take him. Everyone talks about our lack of depth at center, but you also cant overlook the fact that our defense sucks. However we do have some good young ones on the rise with Subban, Emelin, Beaulieu, Tinordi and Ellis.

We have a bunch of terrible center except Grabo so why not get a future superstar for once who can center our top line for 10-15 years

Where we going to get that? Please don't say by an unproven guy who play 2 games last year. Better of trading for one.
