They just traded Carter for Johnson. If they hadn't, I'd agree, but after trading a center for a d-man, I don't see them taking a d-man over a center- not to mention the possibility of Nash leaving. They may balk at Galchenyuk because of his name(anything russian sounding would be a tough sell to that fanbase)... But I think they're definitely looking at a forward over a d-man.

Being at 5 has its advantage in this draft because the top 5 are pretty tight heck id say the top 10 are tight, if some teams pass up on a player it can fall right into are laps and in the future make the other teams look like idiots

You never know who these guys see as BPA, and while we think it's the best way to make a pick, teams do still go by need here and there.

And Burke also said he's considering taking a positional need if the talent level isnt far off from the BPA when pick 5 rolls around.. so i would think he would take a centerman over a dman, unless murray is there, then i think u have to take murray (wont happen anyways)

well, he never invited Grigs in for an interview, so chances are, we're not getting him... and Teravainen is pint-sized, so I don't really see Burke going after him, either.

The forward talent drops considerably after those two.

Because they have a set defence at the moment tied up with contracts, murray is NHL ready. Unless they trade away some defense....?
