In my opinion, most scouts are morons and project stupid things and make stupid comparisons. Statistics are statistics and i stand by them very strongly. If the player is a bust, hes a bust, but you know you went into a draft selecting the best player because he got those statistics for a reason. Majority of the time those players are not busts, you have those selected few that are or never reached their full potential or in some cases like we have been talking about, never given a real chance to play in the NHL for a full season to prove themselves.
I look forward to this friday to see who we draft, either we move down to draft galchenyuk or we stay put and draft one of forsberg or grigorenko. - Mapleleafs_91

Scouting is not an easy job, or an exact science.
They have to look at potential as much or more than junior stats.
You're not looking for the best player immediately. you're looking for the best player over the long haul. |

So tlusty had more potential than claude giroux, where tlusty had 34 pts in 37 games when drafted and giroux had 112 pts in 61 games or whatever he played drafted in the same year? Yup that worked out so good Scouts are morons, or well in some cases, some teams scouts are. |

Toffoli has incredible statistics, kadri had good statistics as well, but its about giving these guys a chance to see what they can do and how they improve themselves each year getting better not worse. - Mapleleafs_91
??
In most cases Throwing guys to the wolves in the show is far more detrimental to development than letting them hone their craft in the minors for a few seasons.
Whats the rush? Development is not always linear.

Giroux had 112 pts in 63 games when drafted, that already says alot. Who in the right mind picks tlusty that had 34 pts in 37 games? What a joke, scouts are morons and whoever decided that crap is a complete moron. Potential my ass |

You laugh, when we could of selected giroux over tlusty cause let me tell you how tlusty was such a good player wow what a steal we got him for huh? 34 pts in 37 games in the OHL wow i wish we still had him Statistics say alot. - Mapleleafs_91
Tlusty hadn't even played in the OHL at that point. He was playing in the Czech league... on the same team as Michael Frolik... and had more points than him... who's done better in the NHL? |

Apples and oranges.
1. They made the team on merit outta camp
2. They quickly proved they were the best options available.
( as good as they are and will be-this is one of the reasons we're so bad. 19 year olds are our best players. I think all will be stars, but dont kid yourself into thinking the nuge is at datsyuks level yet)
3.mgmt really had no choice but to play them. The fans demanded it.
4. Neither locke, nor kadri are on eberles level at this point. Not even close.
Btw- ebs had to work on his skating in the minors first.
And apparently did so tirelessly |

Who do you think is better?
Btw, Brassard had 116 points in 50-odd games. Why didn't he got first overall? |
