Kessel had better stats than Toews in 2006... why didn't Chicago take Kessel over him? - Schenn-Sational!
Theres literally thousands of these you could come up with.

Who do you think is better?
Btw, Brassard had 116 points in 50-odd games. Why didn't he got first overall? - Schenn-Sational!
Well kessels a winger and toews is a center. Cant really compare but id rather have toews since the leafs have no centers at all |

I could be wrong but Kessel was a center when he was drafted. |

Apples and oranges.
1. They made the team on merit outta camp
2. They quickly proved they were the best options available.
( as good as they are and will be-this is one of the reasons we're so bad. 19 year olds are our best players. I think all will be stars, but dont kid yourself into thinking the nuge is at datsyuks level yet)
3.mgmt really had no choice but to play them. The fans demanded it.
4. Neither locke, nor kadri are on eberles level at this point. Not even close - hugefemale dog77

Yup. Also, Backstrom had only 26 points that year. Why would anybody waste a top-10 pick on him? |

Leafs management is a joke, our scouts are terrible and it is proven countless times year after year, and all you people complain ohhh we cant have any good prospects... hmmmmm i wonder why Because our scouts are dumbasses - Mapleleafs_91
The real knuckleheads are the managers who refuse to fire them and build a proper scouting department. As a Canucks fan I know what I'm talking about, sadly! |

Apparently stats are everything. Anything else scouts look at is stupid. Scouts are stupid. Stats are king. |

Actually Nonis and Burke have done a hell of job getting prospects, compared to JFJ. |

No. People are not this dumb. I refuse to believe it. - Schenn-Sational!
Your statement makes no sense, you refuse to select the best possible player who singe handly dominates either the OHL, QMHL, etc etc leagues yet say they are terrible choices? Yes you have to analyze each player but statistics play a major role. Plus backstrom had 40 pts in 45 games when selected, swedes are not known to destroy in statistics or have a high ratio of points for the number of games played |

Landeskogs production paled in comparison to some of his draft eligible peers.
Went 2nd and is about to win the calder.
Outside of the nuge, theres not a player in last years draft id rather have.
When it comes to players like gabriel or j. Staal, its about so much more than numbers.
U must be able to see this? |

true haha, though my point is like crosby for example got 168 pts in 62 games in the QMJHL.. your telling me statistics mean nothing? Obviously scouts look at other things as well, but statistics plays a huge role in selection. Proving that the leafs are morons selecting tlusty over giroux. |

Nicklas Jensen, who Burke passed over, is going to be one of those type of players. 50-60 pts in junior but he's going to be a 30 goal scorer in the NHL IMO, Nucks picked him at 29th. |

I do, though im saying for first overalls who surpass the norm and just dominates the league you have to pick as a draft choice like crosby, like the stamkos, like the brassards, like the nuges, like the halls, like the yakopovs, you cant just say NO to players like that.. thats down right stupid. |
