I agree, it does not make sense for the Leafs who are looking for a starting goalie. But that is not the case for a team with a longer term perspective. Lehner could be a big chip, for example, in an offer for Nash or Ryan.

Everywhere I look people are mentioning Nash to Ottawa. I don't want him as a Leaf but I would certainly hate it if Ottawa got him. I don't care how bad his salary is and how much it may hurt a team long term, I'd rather acquire him then have a team in our division get him.

They have one season where just about everyone performs over their heads and now everyone in the media is scrambling for a position on their nutsacks. They're going to struggle to make the playoffs next season. Not sure what they'd have to offer for Nash.

Columbus wants two roster players so Michalek and one of Foligno/Regin. they do have some nice prospects but I'd assume Columbus will want one of Zibenajad or Stone but they wont get both plus picks. I think Ottawa can pull it off.
