do we actually have a 2nd round pick on draft day??? - aightwebang17
Its still early.. |

I disagree.. I just think people understand what JvR brings to the table. Some just want him traded for the sake of trading him. - jak521
hes underachieving, invisible most of the time in the lineup or hurt...6 games this kid was a beast. |

I think you are overvaluing Suter and Schenn.
Schenn can hit.. wont disagree with that.. But there is a lot more to being a physical d-man than throwing a lot of hits. Grossmann shuts players down. You know, a lot of credit was given to Coots for shutting down Malkin.. but I think people need to realize how good Coburn and Grossmann were there.. Grossmann swallows guys.. completely ends rushes. On top of it, he is very conservative with it to.. not getting caught out of position routinely. - jak521
I think that's overvaluing Grossmann. Saying he swallows guys up. Mark my words, seeing Grossmann over 82 games, he'll take some abuse from the fans this year. |

“@Aportzline: Have confirmed @DarrenDreger report of #CBJ trade for G Sergei Bobrovsky. Three draft picks going to Flyers, including No. 45 this year.” - funmaster18
2 picks for this year and now have 7 picks this draft. 3rd pick in the deal is for 2013. |

Maybe not a superstar, but I'd argue whether he's a star or not... Or better yet whether he's better than JVR.
Ryan - A Fan Favorite
6'2" / 209 / 25yrs - 5 season in NHL
Can play C or LW
Durable - only miss 1 game (flu) in 3 seasons. (first season miss 2 flu and 2 suspension)
Scores - 4 previous years with 30+ goals, many assists...
Grit - Averaging over 100+ hits a season
JVR - on the trading block
6'3" / 200 / 23yrs - 3 season in NHL
Only plays LW
Durable??? - never played a full season, 2 concussion and groin/hip issues.
Scores - Only one year over 20 goals (at 21), similar level of assists...
Grit - One season with 107 hits, other seasons where in the 30's.
Development - Way behind the level of Ryan.
Ryan out paces any current Flyers goal scoring over the past few years. - leon neon
He sure does outpace any current Flyers in goal scoring. But he's not a star player. He's a solid young winger. But he's not a star.

I bet you Schenn would have helped against the Devils. Not saying he would have changed the outcome, but he could have helped. Coburn, Meszaros and even Grossman aren't even anywhere near as physical as Luke Schenn. He led the league in hits by a defenseman. And he's only 22. You're also misunderstanding me here. I'm not saying Luke Schenn is a number one defenseman by any stretch of the imagination. He by himself is not the answer. The only true number one defenseman on the market this year is Suter. But he can only play for one team and I'm not sold that he is a franchise defenseman either. But getting Luke Schenn PLUS another defenseman would possibly solve their defensive woes. Like I said 4 times already Garrison is the guy I want the most. But just one guy is not the answer this offseason. - TonyBazz
The Flyers couldn't clear the zone quickly enough during the Devils series... I thought we didn't have enough guys that played well under pressure and couldn't execute on the outlet passes. I'm not sold that Schenn would increase performance playing under pressure. |

I didnt say he swallows everyone up, but he does absolutely swallow guys up.. He wins battles along the boards, and when he uses he size and strength he eliminates a lot of players. Is he elite.. nope, but he is a very good physical #4 d-dman.
If Jesus Christ himself wore O&B he would take abuse from the fans. |

And JVR is???he sucks. Hes not physical, why do you think simmonds was on the first powerplay? Answer: because jvr was to much of a nancy to stick around the net. so they put a guy 30lbs lighter than him to do it....kids a joke. |

Well he's a fan favorite right now. But we'll get a truer picture of the player seeing him for an 82 game Season. |

I can already see it, he'll be labelled inconsistent, fragile, or both by the trade deadline. That said, I'm looking forward to seeing a full season from him, regardless of the peanut gallery's conjurations. |
