I'm not really down for the whole trading up to 6 or 7. Getting from the 20th into the top 7 costs a lot (JVR?) I'd rather trade him for a proven player if anything. |

Don't be upset when you get a lump of coal. Don't think this draft will help us next year.
I agree - trading JVR to move up would really suck. |

GM my friend.
With all due respect, I hope we are quiet.
That being said, the rumor of Nash for Read and JVR and Bob is growing on me. I would do that with consideration of the giant salary.
Still don't think it will happen though.
Let's just draft a nice D-man tonight and call it a day. |

I have said quite a few times, i would like to see this team grow and allow the youth to gain additional experience. I would only tweak the roster to add a player not gouge the roster.
Stay the course...is my motto...
it was nice to see a lot of young guys in the lineup with some Veteran swag |

then again it could be a type of Christmas where you pick a great gift and then someone comes and takes it away. Hate those games. |

The Columbus Clippers are an interesting team to watch. With Nash and a top pick, they have a great chance to piss off fans even more. You never like to see a franchise struggle this badly - hopefully they make some good moves. |

I'm willing to trade youth for one player. A top defenseman. Or I'd also be willing to trade JVR, and maybe a little sweetner, to Anaheim for Bobby Ryan. But not another roster forward as that sweetner. Otherwise, draft a player. Re-sign Carle. And maybe add a few role player UFA's. |

I think we are all on the same page. Don't rip the fabric of this young team.
JVR for Ryan is a good trade for us.
For D-man, I am more intrigued by Myers and Johnson than some of the bigger name D-man. Don't know what that would take though.
Rumors are just that, rumors. Should be a fun day. |

From the BJs blog:
In regards to the draft Howson was clear yesterday that they won't try and trade for the first overall pick but may move back out of the 2nd overall selection. Here's the reason. If the Oilers make a surprise pick of Ryan Murray with the 1st overall pick, Jackets will want to move back. They have no interest in Nail Yakupov who's skill is world class but his personality reminds them of Nik Zherdev who also had ridiculous talent but attitude melted down his career.
Havent heard this about Nail's personality at all so I dont really buy it. But if Columbus is looking to move back, I'd consider trading JVR for the 5th, then flip the 5th to Columbus. |

The Yakupov "attitude" thing comes from him ticking scouts off by skipping the Prospects Game. Otherwise I haven't heard anything about him having a bad attitude. I wrote a profile of Yakupov a year ago for NHL.com.

I'd really like to see them grab a potential franchise defenseman like reinhart or dumba, but only if the trade makes sense. Overall I just want them to improve the team. I think any of the options bill provided would do that.
If they make a trade for a player like ryan or nash and do so without losing Schenn or Couturier, then I think I would be happy in either scenario. I wouldn't be opposed to losing JVR for an established scorer, but I'm completely content with seeing what he can do this year.
IMO, the flyers are not shopping him, but are loving all the attention he's getting. I think they are waiting for the right deal, rather than pursuing Nash or Ryan at all costs. |

Bill Meltzer: Draft Day 2012: Round 1 - bmeltzer
The Flyers are never afraid to go off the board a bit -- Gagne, Giroux, Richards, etc -- whether it's taking advantage of their scouting focus in the QMJHL or drafting by gut-feeling/intangibles, it's been the main reason they've been so successful in the 1st-round in the recent past. As an organization, it doesn't seem they put a lot of stock in sticking slavishly to the pre-draft rankings. |

call me crazy, but I dont think either will be franchise type guys...
EDIT: That doesnt mean I dont think they will be very good, just that they wont be franchise #1's.. |

It also helps when the player you wanted, which would of been a mistake, is picked a spot before you pick, and your left to "settle" for Giroux!
