Only a second rounder for Bob?.. Thought it would of been better to use him in a package. But good move getting rid of his salary - Richieattack18
Guy had no shot to play here and that is a classy move. A 2nd round pick will probably not mean anything so lets see what else is out there.
BTW - F Luke Schenn.

i think a 2nd and two 4ths is a great return. to be honest, i didn't see bob by himself bringing anymore than just a 2nd, let alone two more picks. solid move, frees up some cap space, best of luck to bob! always loved him, thought he had a bright future as a starter here, but i think he'll be a nice middle of the road starter for columbus. |

Not worth enough.. especially to teams with tradeable defensive assets is my guess - jak521
I think that's a tremendous return for your backup goalie that was being shopped around the league. Flyers allegedly also had a draft-pick offer from Winnipeg today for Bob but it looks like Columbus topped it a little.

pretty similar to what nsh got for lindback (whose numbers are better). nash sweeted the deal a bit to get two seconds and a third, but pretty similar, imo. |

Weber was a second round pick and he means a lot lol. |

To be clear, the F stand for "forget". He is a nice player, but now overanalyzed.
Anyone care to speculate on this "much bigger deal", or at least opine as to its reality? |

Honestly, I feel something brewing here. All those draft picks and just opened a little more breathing room cap wise. Homer has two sick trades coming. I can feel it. |

Do you really believe the 45th pick is the next Shea Weber. Of course not.
I was wondering how he "slipped" in that draft, although that draft was unbelievable. |

Please expand on your comment (for the benefit of the ignorant - me). I was kinda under the impression that any veteran backup we sign (or maybe promote) will not have a much different cap hit than Bob.

Well, they probably wont sign anyone to back up until like day 3 of FA or so. So his cap off the books now gives a little leeway for maybe another trade. |

No I completely agree.. I was saying Bob wasnt going to get much more, because teams dont see him as worth more than that. |

hey man lundquist was a seventh there are a lot of good players that slip into the second round. flyers have a knack for finding diamonds in the rough. |

they will sign a cheaper vet to back up Bryz. Bob was making too much money to be a back up. |

the only other trades that were similar that come to mind were Varlamov and Lindback, look what they got, Homer got a good return. |

That trade of Bob was Clarke-esque. Stockpiling picks with the ability to do more.

Here's numbers to show you:
Bob's cap hit: 1.75 million
Marty Biron's cap hit: 875 thousand
The difference isn't HUGE but with a hard cap ceiling every bit counts. |
