I agree with Parise being lights years better -- but he's going to get at least 7 years for 7 a year. - flyersfan51
Thats fine with me. You don't need to give up anything to get him.

Id do that over 7.8 for Nash.. while giving up a ton to get him. - jak521

yes, but I think we'd have to trade someone to be able to afford that contract, right? |

@GlobeFluto tweeted that Tim Thomas has waived his NMC which would have expired on July 1. Teams near cap floor are inquiring.

I don't think so. They look to have about 15 mill in cap space. Thats with Prongs on LTIR

ideally but i'm not counting my chickens before they hatch...but if Walker and Shelley can be dealt, that's more cap space they can use to above the cap before LTIR goes into effect. If you follow. |

Not at all.. I am suggesting that Giroux and Getzlaf are both verrrry verrry good centers. Getzlaf has the edge is a few things, giroux a few others.
My point is that for three seasons Ryan has been a main stay on the top line, and has put up good numbers.. JvR has never gotten extended time on the top line, and has put up decent numbers. I think JvR needs a season on the top line..
I think you can replace Jagr with out trading JvR + for Nash or Ryan.
In your argument you say our offense needs help because we are losing Jagr and Hartnell cant be expected to reach the same numbers....
So trade two very talented young players for one?
So you lose three gain one... and it improves the offense? - jak521
I don't get it either! |

However, IIRC, with Schenn his bonus was worked out so that he had to attain ALL of his bonuses to get the money. Therefore, one game under 25 minutes in TOI, and his bonus is out the window. - jak521
I would doubt that that is true. |

Isnt that how it worked last season. He went down for one game and his cap hit was dropped to the 1.75 or whatever it was... |

Exactly the same thing with Nash and Weber.
Don't trade the future. Even if it is for "someone that can bring championships".
Besides, could Weber "bring championships" without JVR and Schenn and Read or whoever the 3rd guy is...plus the 2 1sts?? I'm not sure he could. Trading those guys significantly hits the front end.
Keep. Everyone. Here. |

that is why they got that 2nd round pick for Bob,
to give to someone to take Walker or Shelley

You don't get it? Get Ryan to replace Jagr, and give up JVR and Read to do it. Surely adding Ryan and losing Jagr, JVR, and Read improves the offense. |

i would think read would go for the 6th pick...this flyers deal will go down if one of those three are available @6....reinhart has size and smarts to be the next pronger.
Jvr+read+20th for Ryan+6th(Reinhart/dumba) |

Thats a super bold comment. I was leaning more toward Seabrooke. Pronger was a number pick and is a HOFer.. |

I f we sign Parise for 7 mil a year and Jake to 3.5 that still leaves around 7 Million to get a backup goalie and a solid D-man |

there are other bonuses to his contract...
I see the Flyers finding ways to NOT pay the bonuses, so although we see them right now on capgeek etc...the salary will be reduced. Oh...they did it last year so I'm using that as to why they will do something to reduce the cap hit this year. |
