Only four players have scored 30+ goals in each of the past five seasons.
Rick Nash is one of them. Playing for Columbus. Without a #1 center. - bradleyc4

So the rumor is that the Oilers dont want Nail.. and CBJ doesnt either...
IF either team was willing to trade their pick for JvR... would you do it? - jak521
Yep.
Then sit back and watch Tambellini and Howsen immediately fired.

I do believe Schenn and Coots will be at training camp with the Flyers. - ravishingone
I do too. Im burned out from all this. If so many teams are interested in JVR that says something. Give it another year and keep an eye on Nashville at trade deadline time with Weber. |

I find all the rumors interesting. However, I am a little concerned about the top 6 d-men. With Kimmo and Meszy coming off back surgery is very concerning. Supposedly both are recovering well, I still wouldn't be shocked to someone significant added this offseason besides resigning Carle. |

It wouldn't be surprising to see the Oil, who have a load of young forwards, drop down a bit to select Murray, Rielly, or Dumba and pick up another asset as well. |

Yea I wouldnt be shocked either, but the options just dont seem to be there. I posted a list of FAs the other day and the top 3 will be overpaid. Gill had the best value as a filler until next year imo. But maybe the Yandle stuff will stir things up, but what's he worth? Not JVR |

I have no doubt that JVR will be a 30 goal scorer (when healthy). Why trade a 30 goal scorer who makes 4.25 for one that makes 5.1? - Jimmygrazz
I have doubt's... And, as you mentioned - Health is a question with JVR - I'd pay $850K for a full year - 82 games. Nothing sucks worse than a key player out during the playoffs. Part of the reason for falling short the last 2-3 seasons in the playoffs was health; JVR, Carter, Lappy, Pronger, Timmo (although he played), Bryz (foot facture just prior to playoffs - stopping a great run), etc... |

that would totally make sense. it would not make sense, however, if they stayed at 1 and took murray.
caveat: i am obviously not a scout and am just basing this off of a lot of reading. |

Before this season, JVR played in 75 and 78 games. I'm not really concerned with his health. It was one bad year of bad luck, IMO. |

Agree. Not to mention Grossmann has missed his share of games over the past few years. They need to keep Carle and add a veteran defender. Homer once said you need to be 8-10 deep on the back end. |

The problem is all teams greatly value top pairing d-men above almost any position as we all know. If Homer trades assests to go up in the draft to hopefully draft a franchise d-man I can't kill him for trying. It would be a risk, but the assets used to move up probably will be significantly less then trying to trade a Weber type in trade. Honestly, as I mentioned before, franchise d-men only become available under special circumstances:
1. Down side of career
2. Organization can't afford to pay them
3. Player nearing UFA status and has no interest in signing with current team
