(frank)ing stupid i do that deal hands down - Philly1980
Not sure I believe that report. It would be stupid for Columbus to turn down all those picks but even dumber for the NYI to offer all those picks to move up 2 spots when they still drafted a very good defenseman. Not buying the story.
Although its being reported as true. |

Lets say the Flyers dont make another trade before July 1st which player will they be targeting that day in free agency? - stveshdy
Assuming carle and jake are back? i'd say travis moen and a 4th line center... there's quite a few of them out there
i'd still want moen as well because i'd rather not see rinaldo with a regular spot in the lineup. he's fine as a call-up in case of injuries, but i'd rather they sign a vet 4th liner to fill that role. doesn't have to be moen, however. two veteran 4th liners that can kill penalties and add some physicality |

you know, they could have both A and B. Just because you have Ryan and Giroux does not mean the rest of the team isn't well balanced. - flyersfan51
If we're giving up one of our top 4 d and Voracek that tips the scales grossly to unbalanced. |

we'll be able to sign another Defensemen rather than going after another forward if we have Ryan. |

Interesting. I could see the Flyers going after him and depending on what he does will change the decision making process of Homer.
If he signs great for the Flyers.
If he doesnt back to the Ryan drama. |

Schultz. Getting him would allow the Flyers to trade a defenseman imo. |

How so? Lets just say the Top 4 is Meszaros....
Timonen
Carle
Cobrun
Grossmann
Schenn
Not a bad top 5. And the 6ix spot is filled by Bourdon, Gustefsson, or Lilja... All more then capable NHL defenseman.
That doesnt seem unbalanced to me. |

FIRE HOWSON NOW!
Isles Offered Entire Draft
POSTED JUN 25, 2012 BY AARON PORTZLINE | 0 COMMENTS
How highly did the Blue Jackets value defenseman Ryan Murray before taking him with the No. 2 overall pick in Friday's first round of the NHL Draft? Enough to turn down an eye-opening offer from the New York Islanders, who, according to numerous NHL sources, offered all of their picks -- one in each round -- for the right to move up from No. 4 to No. 2 for Murray.
That's right, for the Jackets' No. 2 pick, the Islanders offered pick Nos. 4, 34, 65, 103, 125, 155 and 185. The bounty would have given the Jackets the following picks: 4, 31, 34, 62, 65, 95, 103, 125, 152, 155, 182 and 185. And if that weren't enough, the Jackets could have had the Kings' No. 30 if they wanted it.
Next week's development camp would have required two sheets of ice.
Blue Jackets GM Scott Howson offered a "no comment" when reached by The Dispatch late Sunday. After Friday's first round, he did mention a "very attractive" trade offer the Blue Jackets declined before selection Murray, a precocious prospect whom many think could play in the NHL this season.
The Islanders, unable to move up for Murray, drafted highly-touted defenseman Griffin Reinhart with the No. 4 pick. But they didn't stop there. The Islanders spent all seven of their picks on defensemen.

So he turned down the #2 pick for the #4, a 2nd a third and bunch of even more useless picks beyond that. I don't blame Howson for saying no. I'd want next year's #1. |

Voracek is getting at least 3.5. that's why I'd trade him. I'd sign Bouch for league minimum. I'd give Parise a 7 year 49 million contract. - flyersfan51
Voracek is an RFA. He's going to get what the Flyers want to give him or he is going to sit out. He doesn't have any options. Most he will get is 3. All you guys saying he will get nearly 4MM are crazy. He can't comman poop as an RFA. |

U don't even know how healthy Timmonen is going to be and that's assuming none of those guys get injured. Not having depth on d has been a killer for the flyers for years now. If it's more than a one for one swap then the hell with it. I like this team as a whole. As Pixote said Tampa had one helluva top line and played 0 playoff games.

ok a team not on the rebuild its stupid...for a team rebuilding you get as many picks as you can and hope for the best. considering their situation i would say it was stupid yes. For 2 spots come on. They drafted a defenseman as #2? whose to say hes gonna pan out. |

Like I said, even if there is an injury, you can get by with Lilja and Gus or Bourdon for a long while. Even Manning was an effective call up, plus they are excepting big things from Laudrson (sp) |

I'd be extremely interested in hearing from you how that is false. - MJL
Capgeek and Bill all discussed this on twitter. All the bonus reducers for B. Schenn were only for year 1 of his contract. The only thing that could knock Schenn's salary back down to 1.75 is a bonus cushion. If there isn't one, the Flyers are on the hook for the 3+MM salary for him.
EDIT: And don't talk to me like I'm stupid or your child. |

If you have a guy you love at #2, you don't trade down to #4 for a 2nd and 3rd round pick (plus all the additional ancillary noise of the other picks) and potentially lose your guy. |
