Bill, doesn't Brayden Schenn's cap hit go from $3 mil to something like $1.75 mil on the first day of the season? |

Meszaros most like. - NickTheKid87
If Im Anaheim I ask for Coburn. Then Homer walks away from the deal again..........
Then 2 days later talks "heat up" again.........
Then Mezaros is acceptable. |

Him or Coburn most probably. - Jsaquella
I'd trade Voracek, Meszaros and a first rounder for Bobby Ryan.
that's shedding more salary then taking in. we'd be able to sign a top forward, mid range forward and a solid d. |

I'd want Coburn if I was Anaheim. Also if I was Philadelphia. |

I think around $3.5m for Jake. Maybe $4m. - NickTheKid87
I'd rather pay Ryan's 5.1 |

More likely Coburn, considering the trend of trading players right after they're extended. |

I was just going to say the same thing. But would we have to sign Jake before we traded him?

You think Anaheim would do it for Voracek and picks/prospects?? - flyersfan51
I think the Staal deal can be used for comparison. Staal > Ryan in my mind. So Pitts got a young roster player, a short-term prospect ready for NHL, and a draft pick/long term prospect.
The 8th pick is obviously > than a late 1st round pick we'd offer, so say we throw in a 2 or a 3.
Brandon Sutter is a very good, defensive 3rd line center. The closest comparable on the Flyers might be Laughton, skill-wise. But Vorachek > Sutter, and Schenn >> Sutter.
Dumoulin rates very highly as a prospect, but he is still a prospect and that carries a lot of risk. Coburn and Meszarros are proven defenseman (tho Mesz has the back issue).
So to me Schenn/Vorachek + Coburn + 1st round pick is a big overpayment for Ryan. I think one of Vorachek OR Coburn, a prospect such as Cousins or Gusty or Laughton, and a 1st round pick with maybe a 3rd should be enough. I personally wouldn't give up Coburn tho. |

I think Capgeek tweeted that the bonuses are reachable this year (doesn't include the minutes and 82 games played). So they said we'd be on the hook for the full 3 million but could use the bonus cushion if implemented this year. |

so you think he will eventually be a flyer? I love Voracek, but I'd definitely trade him for Ryan. We might still have some cash to sign another mid range forward. But I don't think I'd put Hartnell and Ryan on the same line.
Read - Giroux - Ryan
Hartnell - Briere - Simmonds
Wellwood - Schenn - Whitney
Talbot - Coots - Zolnierczyk
Grossmann - Coburn
Timonen - Schenn
Meszaros - Gustaffson/Bourdon - flyersfan51
All information so far points to Carle being re-signed. |

I don't want Couturier on the 4th line again this year and I don't think management does either. |

I think Ryan and Staal are equal. I would not trade Schenn -- I'd rather keep Voracek but he's a bargaining chip to get Ryan. and if he's going to get a raise between 3.5 and 4, I'd rather get Ryan for 5.1. I'd rather hold on to Coburn and trade Mesz. I'd sweeten the pot to keep Mesz. I'd go as far as Voracek, Meszaros, prospect and a 1st and 2nd rounder. |

It won't happen on the first day of the Season, but at some point early in the Season, Schenn's Cap hit will be reduced. |

I think Jake, Mesz, 1 or 2 picks incl. 1st rounder AND Cousins would be a huge overpayment for Ryan.
Again, basing a bit on Staal deal. |

That's an extreme overpayment for Ryan in my opinion. I hope Holmgren doesn't do that. |

me neither -- haha. I'd put him with Schenn and Simmonds. I know I didn't in my previous post, but that line would be nice. |

I don't think the Flyers have Kovar's rights anymore. I could be wrong though. - NickTheKid87
The Flyers still hold his rights due to the lack of a formal transfer agreement with the Czech hockey federation. He's unlikely to be brought over, however.

So, if we trade Mez and Jake for Ryan, sign Carle for 5 mil, Harry Z for 800,000, MAB for 900,000 and Sestitio for 600,000 that leaves us with about 9 mil in cap space. Is my math right? |

OK, even if you think Ryan and Staal are equal (and it is close), I think that is still a far better offer than Pitts received. |
