That seems to be the consensus, at least among Bill and a few others. One I happen to agree with as well. - MBFlyerfan
if one of the categories is "high and wide" then yeah -- but I think i'd rather have Ryan than Carter. |

SOURCE: #Flyers have offered Meszaros, Read, and a 1st round pick in 2013 to #Ducks for Bobby Ryan. So far, no deal. Talks ongoing.
Effing INSANE if this is even close to being true. - MBFlyerfan

Exactly. You want Ryan your going to have to pay for him. Hes a proven 30 goal scorer in this league. I'm not saying the Flyers need to make the move but his value is much better than what hes getting credit for imo. - stveshdy
If Clarke convinces Mr. Snyder that we need Ryan, then Ryan it is. Homer couches the move by saying the Schenn trade was all part of it from the beginning after he jettisons Mezzy/Coburn and a first and a second (thrown in just because Homer hates 2nd rounders).
Schenn takes Mezzy's'Coburn's place, Ryan takes JvR's place. Neat and tidy, and we only lose about 400k in cap space (rough estimate). |

We don't know for a fact that, that specific offer was made. - MJL
I like Ryan a lot but that is too much. I would offer Mez/1st/younger prospect. Thats just me (not that ANYONE has to agree). |

Between Giroux's current salary $3.75, and Briere's salary $6.5 (if he retires)... We should be able to sign him.
Stamkos $7.5
Crosby $8.7
Malkin $8.7 - leon neon
Crosby will be closer to $10m when he gets extended. Same goes for Malkin. |

Terrible deal but I do, however, think we all treat Read as if he is a 20 year old. How much more upside does he have? |

I also think this is over-payment. Drop read or the First, and I'm ok. |

With him it's not about how much better he can get. It's about how good he is now with that cap hit. Exceptional two player that can fill in on any line with very frugal cap hit. |

Actually Timmo's $6.3 (comes off the cap) can go towards Giroux. Then Briere's toward others the following year.

Good point. But if you can get a really good player for him than I'm not opposed. Not saying Bobby Ryan but anybody. |

Im not for two reasons, the first and losing a solid d-man.
Now if Mezzy ends up being hurt and in and out of the lineup all season I may view it differently down the line. But you cant think like that.
I would love to believe that Homer is reading this rumor and laughing his ass off. Lets just hope he isn't riding his bike in Avalon when he DOES see it.

Perhaps not much, but 24G and 23A and a plus 13 is a pretty good return for someone making 900k a year. |
