Getzlaf isn't as good of a pure playmaker as Giroux, but he's no slouch in that department, either. Both Ryan and Perry owe a significant piece of their success to their center.

I think health has been a concern for Getzlaf.

Have to look at the big picture. You building your team for the future, not just fo one year. Timonen's contract is expiring.

Saying that I would no be surprised in the least to see the Flyers trade a defenseman.

Me neither, but I do think they trade for Ryan. I don't think that would be the package though. I just think they are looking ahead as you stated in a previous post. Kimmo and Hartnell come off next year, and while Hartnell had a good year this year, Im not sold that they sign him back and not look at other options that may be available that may be younger than Hartnell at 30. Ryan would then plug in as a staple to the top line with G. Then some lucky SOB will play the other side.

Coburn was playing at a top-pair level down the stretch IMO. You don't deal him for Ryan.

I doubt it -- I said earlier I think one of Read/Voracek will be moved for Ryan -- just replace Read/Voracek with a mid range forward UFA.

Voracek and probably Mez + Picks probably. Anaheim apparently wants a legit Defensemen. Might do it for Bourdon & Voracek + but I don't know. The rumors are they asked for Coburn and either Schenn or Coots. I would NOT do that deal.

Timonen will be off the books next year so I think that will be when we make a BIG move (i.e. Weber). As of now, that is a great D corp. You also have to factor in injuries. There's no way Kimmo plays 82 games.

I am factoring in injuries. Gus or Bourdon would be your 6th d-man, and the other and Lilja would be injury reserves. Trade 1 d-man and you still have 8 serviceable NHL d-men.
