Yesterday(?) we were talking here about draft sleepers from 2007 and last week I was discussing how often pre-draft scouting reports end up looking a little bit comical a few years later.
Found this Red Line Report ranking of the 2008 Draft. Kyle Woodlief knows his stuff, so I'm not picking on him here. But do you think in retrospect he might have liked to move #s 41, 32 and 37 on Top 50 up a little higher and change his skinny on each?

I'm excited to see him play, maybe he can be a Dan Giradi type dman for us, that would be great. I'm aware that's elite company but he has the potential to be and is still only 22 years old. - Pat MaGroin
I'm trying to stay positive about it. I agree he has upside and I hope he's able to maximize it. Might have to tone down the hit total a bit to improve his areas of weakness such as positioning but he should prove to be a good defenseman for us. Kinda like the Mezaros situation. |

That's OK. In postseason media guide, Rinaldo's height was listed as 5 inches tall. - bmeltzer

I as well. I'm aware he gets caught out of position time to time, but I believe with more experience and age, he'll be more selective in the hitting department. Plus he'll bring an added snarl to the back line and forwards will have take into account that he does enjoy laying the boom out. I know he's not much of an offensive whiz but perhaps his RH shot will be a welcome addition to the power play unit. |

under not enough offense, see Weber (Norris is a big stretch for a guy like Schenn to begin with) |

I don't think he'll play power play (has trouble get shots through and on net) but I have always thought he's a underrated passer. |

I think hes an underrated player in general. People soured on this kid and hes 22 years old. NHL defenseman need time to develop. Coming to Philly is just what he needed. |

Good offensive D prospect but so ridiculously overhyped at this point that it's ridiculous. I have said this before: It hurts Anaheim a bit to lose his rights but not as much as some think. They already have a player with virtually the same upside -- Sami Vatanen -- coming over to North America for next season.
If I were Holmgren, the only way I would do a Bobby Ryan trade where I send both a current starting forward and a starting D and a first-round pick is if Vatanen is also coming the other way. Basically a righthanded Kimmo Timonen in training -- very undersized, but skills, moxie and work ethic make up for it. - bmeltzer
Plain and simple... Voracek/Read and Coburn/Mezzy don't go in a package together. They can have either forward and a pick and Coburn is off-limits. They have a problem with that.... trade him somewhere else. He will still be ours in 3 seasons. |

Well, if you follow the example set by Crosby, Giroux's new contract should pay him only $2.8M per year.
