Id be fine with that. They could enter the Guastad race. Perhaps him and Prust.
I like Dom Moore, but if you can get Gaustad you do that. - aosplayo
I like Gaustad just cant justify spending that kind of money on a 4th line center. I also think he goes to a team that will use him more than the Flyers would. |

Question is where are you going to play Gaustad? - MJL
I know, we have a buttload of centers. Perhaps they will play him in the position they had in mind when they toyed with the idea of trading for him at the deadline last year. |

The problem is with Gaustad is that he made 2.25M last year. So he's going to want a decent payday. And I don't see him signing somewhere to play on the 4th line. But depending on the cost, I'd like him on the 3rd line. |

so based on my math after the flyers re-sign voracek, carle and a back up goalie they will have 1.46mm to spend even if they go 10% over, so umm can they sign anyone with that of any value? |

Yea, and like either you or someone else just mentioned he may be a bigger part of the plans for another team out there other than a 3rd line center, though hed be perfect, just maybe not for the money that he may end up getting. The Wideman contract has to have gotten FAs even more excited. |

Matty Carle or Kim Johnsson in his prime
(pretty comparable point totals, matty with one more year hovering around the 40pt mark than kimmy tho)

Carle. Johnsson had concussion issues. Pretty comparable players. Clones. I really like Johnsson as a player.

It's very difficult to choose between the two. Johnsson was a better goal scorer. Flip a coin, if I lose, I'd be happy with 2nd choice.

They have plenty of Cap space to fit Carle under the Cap.

Bill said earlier in the thread Nittymaki is likely to miss the season due to hip surgery I believe. I don't want any of these ex-Flyers retreads. - PLindbergh31

Dogs and cats, living together, mass hysteria.
Hes been pretty good calling things lately actually..... - aosplayo
Well if he's right that would probably go down tonight or early tomorrow. Don't know if Anaheim would trade for his rights and have 1 day to negotiate with him. |

Garrison played with a highly skilled guy (at least on the PP) named Brian Campbell. That helped his offensive numbers a lot. He probably will have a dip this year, but he would be a decent option if they can't re sign Carle, of course depending on the cap hit.
Someone already said it but I'd never thought I'd see the day where there was so much gnashing of the teeth over whipping boy Carle leaving. |

Sign Voracek for $3. Jagr or comparable Winger for $3. Suter for $7.5. Find backup goalie for 800K and Trade Meszaros for the most picks you can get. What kind of picks could you get for Meszaros a 1 and 4? I think B. Schenn and Wellwood will really contribut more this season. You'll have about $4.9 million between pronger LTIR and the 500k-1Mg cap space for a move at the deadline and extra picks to get a better chip.
Feasible?

LeBrun wrote on TSN that he believes both Carle and Garrison are looking for $5M deals.
"Once you get beyond Ryan Suter and Justin Schultz, who are the most sought-after unrestricted free agent defencemen?
Pierre LeBrun: Matt Carle and Jason Garrison, in that order. Carle has flown under the radar because people in Philadelphia keep expecting he's going to re-sign. The dialogue continues with the Flyers but I think he's going to market. I think he's trying to command $5 million a year and he might get it on the open market. I think it's the same thing for Garrison, with $5 million being a key figure for him. He's not close to re-signing with the Florida Panthers, who could also trade his rights before July 1 if they can't get a deal done." |
