like bill said earlier, he's a below-avg backup...plays his best w/ a lot of work which he won't get. and let's not forget that he misled the org about his back injury. rotten karma on this one really. - isaiah520
Matt Carle is sitting on a pot of gold. - stveshdy
It's becoming more clear why Carle decided to test Free Agency. The market could explode, and he along with other players, could be ridiculously overpaid.

where did all these Leighton lovers come from? - vejim
I hope I'm not lumped into this category. I'm just okay with him being the backup if it means homer can get other things done... at a reasonable price that is.

well hey it was game 7 and if that goal doesn't go in who knows what happens. - JoeRussomanno
judging by the ~ 10 other horrid goals he gave up, I'd say we lose. homer doesn't get that this is a middle finger to the fan base choosing this MF'er right out of the chute...maybe if other options were exhausted but...
just the guy we need here. Hey Bill how you feel about the Leighton signing, honestly at this point I'm willing to let your opine be my opine on this that's just how lukewarm i feel about it. - JoeRussomanno

I just believe he's an NHL backup. He is only going to be asked to play 15-20 games and if Bryz gets hurt he has experience. However, I think the Flyers look to upgrade if something serious happens to Bryz.

For example trading for Nabokov. - stveshdy
not that homer finds himself dealing out of desperation very often anyway so...

A lot of drama here. Flyers fans should remember that Leighton helped get them to the Finals.

no drama, he just sucks and homer didn't seem to want to do much shopping. so if bryz implodes for a few weeks or gets hurt we can squander more assets because we didn't do it right the first time...we'll just do it over. have seen this act way too many times.

Well if he does suck, how come Holmgren isn't aware that he sucks? Who by the way, I'm sure has plenty of people on his staff who've watched Leighton play all of last year. They must not be aware that he sucks. What happened the last time Leighton had to step in and replace the starter on a regular basis in the playoffs? Let's not overreact here. It wasn't my choice either. But like Bill says, I can live with it. I'm going to think positive about it.
