didn't clarke put together a Minnesota team that won a cup? - JoeRussomanno
I think that Minnesota team fell a tad short against the Penguins. I think they lost game 7 2-1 in eight overtimes. |

well I DID watch Carter go and catch fire after a dreary season with Nash to win a cup. That's not exactly helping your case. |

Let's not pretend that we know who the Flyers have made offers to, or who they are interested in. It's Free Agency. Players choose what offers to accept. - MJL

Well since the random Hockeybuzz poster hasn't had the job, and had their decisions second guessed, and Monday morning quarterbacked. That question is moot!
But hey, let's go with the random Hockeybuzz poster to make decisions for the Flyers. Because Holmgren and Clarke haven't won the Cup, and the posters know better! |

It's ok Joe. It was 20+ years ago. |

Now that Parise and Suter are looking to sign elsewhere lets see if we can reach out to Carle and his $6M a year deal.

Never said they were better you did by saying they were MUCH better and cannot back it up other than "because i SAY so" and "watch em play" when all I'm saying is they are comparable and that's all that matters. |

So Holmgren and Clarke are tied with 0, while having 25+ more chances. |

You watch them play and it is very clear Giroux and Parise are much better and more complete players than Jeff Carter. Not even sure why I am bothering to argue this with you..
Not to mention the comparison is ridiculous because when Carter went to play with Nash it was widely speculated that they would not have chemistry because neither of them are the playmaker type and both are goal scorers. |

Did Salvador sign anywhere yet? I really wouldnt mind the Flyers signing him for one season to be on their third pairing if Carle walks.
Will load up next summer for Weber, Edler, or Enstrom. |

You have to earn that chance, and also have the qualifications for it.

Flyers are too quiet, with all the role-player signings going on. I'm not saying they end up with Parise/Suter/Nash, but they sure seem poised to make a serious run at one or more of them... |

Bingo. I wouldnt spend more than $5.25 and thats the max. I would be willing to go. Not sure im comfortable with that number either. |

And everyone will come out of the woodwork and say they would rather have Carle at 6 million, than Suter at 7 million.
What happened to the handshake deal, and Carle wanting to stay with the Flyers are below market value? It appears it went up in smoke with the Wideman deal. Never underestimate the greed of a professional athlete, their goal is to ring every last penny out of a franchise. |

Okay then how so? do they skate better, score more, what? You can't sit here and say they are MUCH better without any sufficient data other than I watch em and say so. Carter and Nash are elite players whether you like them or not. I personally am glad they traded Jeff Carter but he is an elite player. He has his name on the cup and deservedly so even if in a secondary role, he came up big when needed. Furthermore he has multiple consecutive seasons of 30+goals one of which he tallied 40. you don't put up those kinds of numbers in the NHL due to Mediocrity. As for Nash I hear constantly on this board how the Flyers have to go through hell and high water to get him. They are not as good but in the same class that's for sure. |

Supposedly Parise is going to sleep on his decision until tomorrow
I guess signing with Pitt may have to wait one day |
