If the Flyers were able to move a combination of Jake, MAB and picks for Bobby Ryan...
Hartnell-Giroux-Ryan
Simmonds-Schenn-Briere
Read-Couturier-Wellwood
That is one nasty YOUNG (with exception to briere and hartnell) offensive core of players.
Probably wishful thinking, but if they can pull it off that would be awesome. Fingers crossed! |

Not that this has anything to do with the Flyers, but Ryan Smyth has resigned with the Oilers according to Dreger. |

Me too. I think ultimately it takes Nash money or more to get him signed though. |

Pretty much sets the starting point for Parise at 10 years $70 mill no? - Flyers2821
I would stay away from those 10 year deals if possible. |

Not a bad contract for that young team. I think they may be a force by the end of the this upcoming season. Not a playoff team yet, but they will really gel. |

I am not saying Flyers, I am looking at the market. With Staal signing 10 years $60 mill, which was offered to him by two teams... clearly Parise is more valuable and will get more than that.. |

I've got to say, for 30 minutes prior to free agency frenzy... this is a pretty weak showing by Flyers fans in here. |

According to TFP, the Ottaw Senators will pursue Parise extremely hard, however it is noted that it is unknown if Parise would sign on to play for them. |

Most likely. Was reading on rotoworld Flyers are doing everything to try and resign Carle. |

Double edged sword. On one hand you could have a great young player locked in at what will be a bargain price in a few years (pending the new CBA).
On the other hand you could have a Luongo situation. |

Flyers were never shy about handing out long term contracts. Just ask Ritchie or Carts. |

They could definitely use him on the back end, just not so sure he is worth $6 mill a year, if that is what he signs for |

For some reason, I could never envision Parise ever turning into a Luongo-type situation. |

Well as devils advocate... the only long term contract left on their roster is Pronger and Bryz. They traded away all 3 of the long term deals they signed players to the past few years. Maybe that tells you Bryz's struggles and Prongers situation have really scared them with long term deals?
Not likely, but very possible. |

I know Matt Carle isn't worth 6 million a year. Bye Matt. |

Yea, I would not be opposed to them signing another d-man for 3-4 mill to round out the defense.
Coburn-Grossman
Timonen-Schenn
Meszaros-_______
Lilja
If they can get a reliable veteran d-man to play with Mez, I will be okay with their defense.
Also... all the d-men listed above in the current flyers lineup were acquired via trade. Maybe make a move during the season for one? |

I'm satisfied with actually giving a kid a chance at that spot. I'd like to see what any of them have and then make a move at the deadline if needed. I feel we have a good enough D. |

They should've been scared about Pronger's contract. It was absolutely absurd.
Personally, I was then, and am still worried about Breeze's years. Another bad decision, one not made objectively. |

That would be a smart decision. Add a vet like Salvador for a year or two. |

I'd be interested in Salvador, but on the cheap. He played way better in the playoffs than he actually is. |
