IF anything sign him for 3 and then you can let him go when Ryan becomes a free agent. This way you get to drive a really cool camaro until the Corvette is priced reasonably.

I don't think Semin is better per say, but I think they are about in the same neighborhood skill wise. Their numbers kinda support that.

I think Semin is more talented but he has been hampered by injuries and apparent attitude issues. Semin's at 0.87 points per game in his career while Ryan's at 0.78. Both have played with some very skilled players but I think Semin has spent less time with the top line. Also, Semin's defensive game has vastly improved under Hunter while Ryan has been accused of cutting corners.

When you get past the jokes about his name and look at his numbers, it's definitely worth a 2-3 year roll. However I'd like the Flyers try to allow what they have now, i.e Voracek, Schenn try to grow into that top six role. IF not then by all means in a couple years go out and get a Free agent.
