yea so when push to comes to shove we get the classic 10th grade cop-out have a nice day. Gotta get going anyway. - JoeRussomanno
I really have no clue where you're coming from. I don't think Jake will score 40. That's an educated guess based on his skill level and talents. That doesn't mean it won't happen, but I'd certainly bet on it not happening. |

....and you also made an educated guess/projection that you somehow know is a fact.
I don't see where you're going, here. - Giroux_Is_God

I wouldn't include Laughton on top of Voracek & MAB. I'd be fine with those two alone.
My first preference is to sign Doan as a FA, if at all possible. My second preference is to stand pat and see what the kids can do or if the prices drop. - Jsaquella
Nothing wrong with those 2 routes either. I certainly approve. |

The numbers tell you they are just about the same player in any world you want to look at.
last five seasons:
Ryan (332 games)

259 points
+37
102 ES goals
Semin (351 games)
149 goals
164 assists
313 points
+74
112 ES goals - BringBack25
Stats don't account for lazy penalty minutes and being a heartless and gutless puke. Semin would be a train wreck on this team. He'd be boo'd and sulk before it even turned November. |

You do realize that some of the same complaints have been raised against Ryan, too, right?
He did not get along with Randy Carlyle well, because Carlyle ripped him for being half-assed and cutting corners defensively and not working hard enough all the time. |

Per Panaccio, Sestito's deal is for $605K, one year. In other words, he simply accepted the Flyers Q offer. |

Sure!
You come out and grill Joe and want to make a bet with him because he doesn't believe your assertion that it's basically set in stone that Voracek will never pot 40, even though you're only speculating yourself.
It's sort of hypocritical....
But hey. I'm no Dr. Phil.

Let's go after Doan because we have about a 5% chance of signing him and I'm sure will be the only team looking to add him. Doan will get his four years. |

I'm not a fan of the guy, but he's willing to hit and be physical, and he does skate well for a 6'5" 230 lbs man. |

I'd go after Doan because I think he'd be ideal for the Flyers needs up front. He's still capable of 20+ goals and 50+ points. He's got great leadership qualities and he's a big, nasty bastard to boot.
I do worry about the 35+ thing, but the other factors outweigh that for me |

If you had to guess, who do the Flyers have a more legit shot at acquiring: Semin or Doan? |

I'm inconclusive on him. I wouldn't mind seeing what he can do for the Flyers, but I'm not banking on him being 'just what the doctor ordered'. |

Semin. Mainly because I think Doan's going to be real popular, and Semin has the "baggage" |

If the price stays high on Ryan and Doan decides to stay out West....I'm not sure. My objection to him has waned. I been watching clips, the guy is a very talented scorer. |

That was a nice read. As with homer, if these guys keep impressing they will get signed |

The difference is that Semin isn't the current grass is greener golden boy. That's put on a pedestal and deemed a star! They are about equal. And truth be known, I'm really not interested in either. |
