I agree 100%. I see Hartnell as a must for signing an extension ASAP. - MJL
True. Good analysis earlier - can't skate, horrible looking athlete, trips.
I was going to say 5.5 for 5 or 6. May seem expensive but you can't keep losing guys unless there is a replacement. |

Doan has been in Phoenix for a long time. His children are getting older and have been there for their entire lives. I can give you plenty of reason why he wouldnt want to come to Philly.
I love people like the Joe S mentioned in your blob Bill. It seems we have to deal with people like that every day. We look at them with incredulity at the nonsense they spout on a daily basis, and wonder if they even watch the games. We get enough of that in here, never mind having to deal with it on Twitter.
I love it when some idiot comes in here stating with finality that this player or that player is "useless", "sucks", etc.
There is plenty of room for criticism of any player, but the moronic, all encompassing terms some of them use just succeed in painting them as dullard troglodytes with the brains of house flies. - MBFlyerfan
The only reason I am happy Matt Carle left is that now we don't have to hear people complain about Matt Carle. |

Touching on that... Hartnell is also a guy who can play on any of the top 3 lines.. and still produce pretty much the same numbers... So if they were to land Doan or Ryan.. and then one of the kids jumps Hartnell.. its not as if we need to move him because he is a wasted commodity. He brings the same game no matter what. |

Kids are resilient. And they figure out quickly that being where dad is is a lot more important than being where their friends are, because they make friends in the new place pretty quickly. Doan isn't a scrub who'll move every season. So I can see him moving his family. It's harder when the kids are in high school, but they're not there yet.
I just get the impression from him that HE'S reluctant to leave Phoenix. It's HIS team (captain and all) and all things being equal, he wants to stay. But he also doesn't want to live under the constant uncertainty of that ownership situation.
I wouldn't mind having him in a Flyers uniform, but I don't want them spending too much for too long on an over 35 deal.

The more likely scenario...he goes to a lesser club, puts up lesser numbers and people will say, "i told you so". |

I think he basically wants to have a say on where he moves his family. If he re-ups with Phx.. and they get sold and move.. he really has no choice but to follow or ask for a trade.
If he waits and finds out that they are still uncertain he can pick where he wants to raise his family.
If they are certain they wont move Phx for the next 5 or so years.. he will likely re-up. |

whoa whoa whoa.. thats a tots different scenario that I havent touched on yet. But since you jumped the gun...
We play TB and he has a very egregious turnover in the final 30 seconds of a tie game.. Forgets G isnt not on his team passes him the puck, and G buries a breakaway to win the game.
#1- Theres the Carle we knew!
#2- Dammit Holmger! Look at that beauty of a pass to G. He really did wanna stay here!

Or he'll flop. One or the other. Either way we don't have to hear constant Carle hate on a daily basis. Maybe only a few times throughout the year.
Besides, everyone knows Holmgren sucks already because he traded three Stanley Cup winners and the immortal James VR. |

the Phils are in a similar situation as the flyers were....they should have a top 5 draft pick and trade Hamels, Lee and Victorino for major league prospects...waalaa |

I think it benefited both sides. Leafs had a surplus of defensemen and we had a surplus of forwards. Both satisfied needs with the trade without hurting another area of the team. |

I wouldn't rebuild if I were the Phils. Move Victorino, yes but not Hamels and Lee. Next year they will still have Halladay and the like so they'll just need to add a couple of bats and a bullpen. |

Hard to add bats and a bullpen when your tapped out money wise especially if they sign Hamels to a huge contract. They have to move some players. |

I like Schenn as a player.. but we traded a top six forward NOW, for a bottom pairing d-man with upside NOW. Like someone else said, neither have played a game for their new team, but I still think we didnt get enough. |

I supposed but JVR was expendable. If it were Voracek than I'd be upset. JVR has yet to prove he can play at a high level consistently plus he's shoddy defensively. We'll see how things pan out over the next 2-4 years. |

Not that I disagree but I rather have the upside of the defenseman over the forward. The Flyers always seem to draft well when it comes to forwards. |
