Hard to add bats and a bullpen when your tapped out money wise especially if they sign Hamels to a huge contract. They have to move some players. - stveshdy
Blanton's gone after this year too. Regardless, they aren't even close to not being able to afford players, they just act like they don't want to incur the luxury tax but I honestly think they are cool with resigning Cole to a big deal. Also, they don't need to add a stud bat but some scrappy ones. A guy like Rafael Furcal for instance. They'll still have Rollins, Utley, Howard, re-sign Pence, Chooch. Gotta add a 3B and OF. |

Am I crazy for wanting the Flyers to make an offer to Alex Semin? |

Will see but they have a lot of money tied up into Howard, Utley, Rollins, Papelbon, Lee, Halladay, Pence. I think the Phillies wont give Hamels what he wants which is why hes not signed yet. I'm expecting him to be traded and if they can clear some money they will try to resign him during free agency. |

Some would say "yes" but I think it depends on years and money. |

I'd rather trade Lee and re-sign Hamels than trade/not re-sign Hamels. |

Let's say 2-4 years $5-5.5 million per year. |

That makes sense. Hes younger and probably their best pitcher right now. |

I would be willing to sign him for two years at that price. Many people think Semin is a dog and bad for the team but he is very talented. I thought he played much better when Hunter took over as coach. |

The more likely scenario...he goes to a lesser club, puts up lesser numbers and people will say, "i told you so". - bradleyc4
TB is a pretty good offensive team. If Carle sees plenty of icetime with Stamkos and St. Louis, his puck moving skills could translate to a good number of assists. |

As did I. I would be completely okay if they signed him for between $5-5.5 million. That way they'd get there scoring winger (and a better one than Bob Ryan) without having to move assets. |

I like Schenn as a player.. but we traded a top six forward NOW, for a bottom pairing d-man with upside NOW. Like someone else said, neither have played a game for their new team, but I still think we didnt get enough. - jak521
Schenn is 22 and has played a top 4 role in the NHL already. Schenn is as much of a to 4 defenseman as JVR is a top 6 forward now. |

Rollins, Howard, and Utley are well past their prime. Chooch is 34 years old. Time to make some deals and get some youth in here. They should start by trading Cliff Lee, Polanco, and Victorino. |

Cliff Lee will be the only one of those 3 that will actually get a decent return. You'd be lucky to get a B prospect for Polly and Vic. |

Doesn't matter. What you gain is payroll. Time to move on.
