When this site started I was reduced to reading the courier post in the morning and catching the recap on Sports rise. Worked around the clock or was in school up until the 2009-2010, then had some personal issues that impeded me now, I'm blessed with being able to discuss Flyers on demand - JoeRussomanno

They do keep coming though Nothing against Ek just Bill is more my style. I'm not really into trade scenarios, rumors etc. I'd rather talk about what really happened, even though I get sucked into the other stuff a lot more than I should. |

What could they have gotten? Don't know.
I would have rather them use him in a deal for Enstrom. I think Enstrom would make a fantastic replacement for timonen. Schenn is a big boy who knows how to hit and play physically. He is very young so hopefully he can work out some of his links and get better offensively. - jak521
I think Enstrom is a very good player. But I see him as more of an upgrade over Carle, rather then a replacement for Timonen. Enstrom isn't the all around player that Timonen is. Enstrom is more of an offensive defenseman. Timonen is a player that can be a horse on the PK, match up against top lines. As well as play the PP point. That's not Enstrom. He would improve the Flyers. But I wouldn't look at him as a true #1 defenseman.

I actually believed that's who he was, then out of curiosity I googled Ek and found out that wasn't the case. For some reason if you say who he is or post his pic it gets deleted, oohh kayyy. |

Expect Doan to drag this out. Boy it must suck having to move for 25 mil. Boo freaking hoo - Just5
Actually, it'd be moving for the difference between what Phoenix offers and what some other team offers. All else considered, it might not be worth it if the difference is just a couple million. |

You have to be careful when posting about ek, otherwise you might get some grey eyed glances from some mods. |

Bill Meltzer: Meltzer's Musings: Hartnell, Prospect Camp - bmeltzer
Nice to see you today at the camp, Bill...the offer to buy my kids stands, BTW.
There were a few guys that stood out today. Shane Harper looked really solid. Nick Cousins did well in the puck drills and showed some feistiness in the battle drills before taking a shot off the foot. Scott Laughton looked good in the second group. Blake Kessel did well in the battle drill, playing defense.
The two that I really noticed were Mike Mangene and Chris Clapperton. Mangene showed a nice shot and good wheels. Kessel handled him in one battle drill, but otherwise, Mangene had a good day.
Clapperton stood out to me more than anyone. He seemed to really be embracing the opportunity. Really good stickhandling on the puck drill, and looked really strong on his skates. He picked a couple of corners in the shooting drills and made a really nice spin move in the battle drill to get away from his defender and pop a backhander top shelf. The only negative he showed was a bit of difficulty handling passes in rush drills, but that could have been bad ice.
Fredrik Larsson, 4th round pick from this year(kid getting the Rocky Tattoo) was also solid in the drills and has a big body. Oliver Laurdissen is a (frank)ing bear of a man. Chase Hatcher, Derian's kid, is a big guy, too, and he looked to have a nice hard shot.
The goalies were kind of a mixed bag. The drills run today were not designed to really show what the goalies could do and they entered them with no warm up shots. Three of the four are over 6'4". Anthony Stolarz and Etienne Marcoux were in the first session. Marcoux is the lone "small" goalie at 6'0" 155lbs. I didn't see the whole first session, though, as the kids had to eat.
In the second session, Cal Heeter was the goalie I focused on. He's big(6'4" 195) and takes up a lot of net. Seemed to have decent mobility for such a big man, but he also seemed to realize that as a guy with a signed contract he wasn't there to earn a deal. However, that could be a result of the drills run, rather than Heeter. |

Saw some early tweets on Larsson and Clapperton from camp. A couple of questions on them.
On Larsson, I was actually really pleased the Flyers drafted him even with the issues on signability of Swedish players. So what is the likelihood we can get him signed.
On Clapperton, obviously it's only one day in a rookie camp, but suppose he seems to show something. What are the costs/risks with signing him? Would it be a slide contract against the 50? Would they invite him to full training camp and gauge his progree then? Or would they likely pass even if he really stands out? |

Not sure on Larsson. He looked like a solid body, though.
I believe Clapperton would go back to junior(he's 18) and could be a slide contract. |

Shane Doan will start listening to offers by Tuesday, according to his agent, Terry Bross. Bross cautioned that nothing is imminent. Doan has been an unrestricted free agent since July 1, but he hasn't signed because he wanted to get a better idea of what the Coyotes ownership situation would look like first.

Mine was 6 months ago.
May have to consider a new account though. Don't want everyone thinking I want to reacquire Matt Carle.
