There's no question Pominville has been a consistent player, and he is to be commended for that. However, Bobby Ryan is a better player than Jason Pominville. If the reason a hypothetical Pominville for Ryan trade, or even Pominville and a pick for Ryan trade falls through is because there are a couple of wingers still on the team that aren't as consistent as Jason Pominville, Darcy Regier should be fired. You don't win cups that way. Bobby Ryan would be an upgrade over Jason Pominville. If that deal is on the table, you take it. It improves your team. - buffalofan19
How do you know Bobby Ryan would be an upgrade over Pomminvile on this team or that hed even fit into our system ?Pomminville in my opinion is underrated amongst the fans. His release is quick and deadly acurate and as prieviously stated hes an ironman even after suffering multiple serious concussions.I dont think Darcy s going to entertain and ideas of moving him its just fan talk.Roy I understood but Pomminville thats just crazy boredom talk. |

Bobby Ryan is a better player on the Ducks. There's no way to know that he would perform the same here in Buffalo. I would actually venture a guess that his performance would take a hit because that's always what seems to happen when players come here. - HonkFortheGoose
Bobby Ryan is younger, bigger, and more skilled and that was why he was picked 2nd overall behind only Sydney Crosby in his draft year. Other teams thought highly of him as well. The Sabres have lost with Pominville, they can lose just as well without him or as I said having him take his correct place as a 2nd line winger, not your team's most prominent/important one. |

Recently?? he was the only Sabre's player to play all 82 games this past year..
He got his foot almost lobbed off against Philly in the playoffs... came back in time for camp.. was awarded captain.. played every game.. had best statistical season..
"yea lets trade him!!" - JVince11

I Pominville, but the fact that he is our best and most consistent player, doesn't show that he is mad at himself for missing the net like Vanek, and is awesome is kinda why we are a borderline playoff team. Maybe that the CORE is on its way out, we can see some improvements in our team.
Riddle me this... why does it always seem that Philly, Rangers, Pens, are always grabbing the big names, despite cap issues, etc? Status quo here in Buffalo, and the big three are always making huge moves, that generally pay off.
Can we not do that? - Da_Cashman
The only team that you have in those "Big 3" that has won the Cup since the lockout is Pittsburgh. That's the thing that can prove that a move "paid off" because that's the goal of every team. Teams make these moves in hopes it will get them the Cup. Philly had yet another 2nd round exit this year even with shaking up their roster and making big moves. Did it really pay off for them? I would say no. |

I still think he would exceed Pominville here, even with a drop off, though I see where you're coming from and don't necessarily disagree. However, my bigger point is this, if you're making a trade with a team for an upgrade, and that team wants Jason Pominville, you give him to them. I don't care how consistent or how much of a fan favorite he is. Jason Pominville is a player that, ideally, on a very good team, complements your star players, not vice versa. You need to get that star player first.
I'm with you. There are other wingers I'd rather give up first. I'd much rather give up Vanek for someone like Bobby Ryan, or even Rick Nash, than Jason Pominville, but if that team doesn't want Vanek, and wants Pominville instead, you still have to make that deal. |

And I don't think you can call any moves the Pens made to grab top-tier players anything remotely close to what the Rangers or Flyers do - having a base of Crosby, Malkin, Fleury and more is a great place to start, so the original argument is weak in regard to Pitt |

Statistically, Pommer has been a more consistent producer. He also has a better career high for points. The only thing that Ryan has done better than Pommer is score 30 goals every year. And it's not exactly like he's scoring high 30s. His career high is 35, which is only 1 more than Pommers. |
