Id be surprised if he signed with any of those teams. All we heard was he has to stay close to this area for his kids. He supposedly was uninterested in moving his NTC clause to go to St Louis near the trade deadline before he got hurt. I suppose Pittsburgh could be in that mix, but I bet he signs with the Capitals, Rangers, or Islanders

With St. Louis losing McDonald, Briere would fit in quite well next to Backes or Berglund.

And now Philly replaces Briere and Bryz with 2 other awful contracts.

I bet he signs a 1 year somewhere and goes back to Philly for small dollars after that.

Montreal won't sign Briere for 2 reasons:

1) Montreal has absolutely no use for a small, soft centre. we got plenty.
2) Briere would never sign in Montreal.

it's perfect. they don't want him and he doesn't want them. never has a team and player been so rightly wrong for each other.

Briere wasn't an awful contract most of his time in Philly.

Id take a shot at Briere and trade Plekanec. Briere will come very cheap and Plekanec has done nothing in a playoff game... ever. Also we can still get a decent return for Pleks.

Saves cap space
Picks up a quality defenseman for Pleks
Goes with Eller Briere and Desharnais down the middle. Ugly I know.. In a perfect world we unload Desharnais too, and play Gally at center

IIRC they were in the final running for him last time he was a free agent.

Although its a completely different team with different management so that probably means jack poop

Actually it's probably because they offered the most $ for him when he first came to Philly. A lot of Montreal fans have not forgotten the snub.

Why would he come cheap? His buyout will be spread over a longer term and he has a greedy ex wife and child support to pay. Some one will still give him 3-3.5 mill at least.
