I'm 50-50 on these proposals. I like the idea of switching sides in OT and a coach's challenge.

I don't agree with widening the trapezoid. I feel like that moves back in the direction of slow, trap-style, pre-lockout hockey.

The rule for faceoffs following an icing makes sense, as it has become a pretty standard strategy to buy your linemates an extra few seconds of rest. I'm all for combating that in the name of speeding up the game, but I feel like a rule forcing the center to take the draw opens up all kinds of loophole scenarios for cheating on faceoffs if a center knows that he can't get thrown out of the dot. That could result in either unfair faceoffs for the attacking team, or more delays than just swapping centers would create.

I like the changing sides in OT idea as well. The trapezoid is fine as it is (although I seem to be the only one who still likes the rule). The rest I couldn't care less if they were implemented or not.

True, most of the proposals seem pretty innocuous. They'd probably have very little effect on the game in a large sample size. I'm all for speeding up the game and encouraging scoring, but not at the expense of over-legislating the game. I'd rather have a team of officials concentrate on being better at enforcing the current rules of the game than adding half a dozen rules every season.

Call me crazy or whatever, but what would be the point of widening the hash marks for the faceoff? So they're a little more "off balance" when they try to stand up? Seems like that would reduce offence off the draw, not increase it... Maybe I'm totally off base here. As for the trapezoid, I also like it. It has seemed to stop goalie's from immediately stopping the play behind the net and also, let's more behind the net scrums develop.

The replay is obvious. it needed to be done long ago. Can't beleive baseball beat them to that one.
