The Vancouver Province says that the Blues are also in on Kesler, along with the Hawks, Pens and Ducks.

Just got an interesting note from someone who actually knows on McDonough and his involvement in hockey decisions. Pretty fair and respectful to him as well. i will blog it in the next few days. |

John Jaeckel: Hawk Draft Preview With Wiz - John Jaeckel
Excellent write up JJ! Pearson persevered after being passed over in two previous drafts to become a first round pick of the Kings. He improved his offensive game in 2011-12 after breaking his fibula and through a combination of improved skating and added muscle became what he is today. He's worked very hard on his 200 foot game and has rightly earned a starting position on LA's 2nd line. You never know what you get in a draft. Sometimes that adversity builds the needed character to succeed. |

From the ESPN site, a quote from Ben Smith...
"First and foremost you have to focus on your game and try and improve," Smith said after the season. "The fitting-in part will come along with that. It's an organization here with a lot of depth, and it takes a lot of time to try and break in. I'd like to say I've gotten close to that, or if not having done that -- it takes a lot of hard work, a lot of time. It takes longer probably in this organization than guys want it to take. For me this year coming in, I felt ready, I felt prepared, and that's where the trying to fit in and find a place came in. That's constantly evolving and changing, but definitely improving your game first helps, and then from there, you try and find a place to fit in."
Love this guy, he takes nothing for granted.
Interesting comment about players expectations on cracking the lineup and timelines. |

1. Fantastic job by wiz. Love reading his stuff. Very in depth and informative.
2. Big week. Very curious to see if this team will take a calculated risk.
3. For those who troll and report back or post on your own blog stuff said here....I laugh at how pathetic you are. Especially when you don't have the stones to say it here but instead resort to social.media. keep doing your podcasts about nothing. Time well spent. |

Any thoughts on Thatcher Demko? - goaler11
I'd rather Stan take a goalie with one of the 3rd round picks instead of the 1st. Connor Bleakley is the prospect I'm hoping for, but there's probably half a dozen decent prospects that could be available at #27.
Question for Wiz (BTW...love you site and appreciate your draft write up):
Which higher end prospect has the best chance of falling to #27 and why? It seems like there's always a prospect or two each year falls in the draft. |

Did the Pens TANK to get Mario ? Looks like it. Great piece by TSN's Michael Farber http://www.tsn.ca/VideoHu...collection=72&show=385298 - philco28
Happens all the time - even with lotteries - even in Chicago - witness, Jerry Krause gutting the team after Jordan, insuring several 15/17 win seasons, to improve draft position and have cap space for the Grant Hills and Tracy McGradys who never came here.
Unfortunately, Krause couldn't draft either: Marcus Fizer, Chris Mihm, Dalibor Bagarich, Eddy Curry, Tyson Chandler.... |
