he wasn't horrendous, but wasn't the answer either. looks like it's harrold for the #7. not sure how wise it is having Hegleson or Severson not playing hockey most of the year.. send them down. |

Todd--if you had to take an educated guess, how do you see the lines looking for the opener against Philly? Mainly the 4th line--seems like the end of CBGB is definitely on the horizon (probably a good call, too).
It also sounds like a lot of folks wouldn't be too surprised to see Gomez or Tootoo on the final roster, but who knows with all the forwards we've got. |

AAny word on Jon Merrill? I know he was helped off the ice after taking a hit in practice from Fedo and hasnt played in any of the pre season games since anyone know if he was seriously injured? |

judging from these lines, seems like again that they're sticking with Clowe over Boucher. Looks like they're also seeing if Matteau would work over Carter on that 4th line. White team's 4th line of Boucher/Tootoo-Carter-Janssen look to be the odd men out. Ruutu-Josefson (in place for wrist-injury Gomez)-Brunner has been together for a long time too. I think that will be our 4th line.
I don't mind Boucher starting in the minors. It's not like he's miles better than Clowe/Zubrus/Ruutu, and you know he'll be the first callup when a forward goes down. It won't hurt him. He'll be here full time next year.
Also won't shed many tears if any of the bottom 6 don't make it. If Gomez stays over Carter, we'll cut our losses and move on. At least he brings something Carter doesn't.. and Ruutu brings the same grit that Carter does, so we're fine. I won't cry if Bernier, Gio, Tootoo, Janssen don't make it. And the minors again won't hurt Matteau.
Fedotenko never stood out much. Kaberle was OK, but not the answer, not much of a DEFENSEman either.. and we need more of that right now with all the "2-way" kids and liabilities everywhere. |

Not a horrible idea if Franson is out for an extended period of time. He was always a good leaf. |

Kaberle wasn't so bad. He would be an upgrade for the Flyers. |

Agreed, I'm actually kinda surprised. Pete played him a ton of minutes in key situations of the PS games. Oh well |

He looked pretty good in pre-season. At the very least he showed he's still capable of playing in the NHL. Considering how atrocious Toronto's defense was last year, I can't imagine he'd be a liability for you. |

we need more D in defense and Kaberle doesn't provide that at all. He was ok with transition, was poised with the puck, but that's about it. |

I don't know I think Boucher has shown to be better then Ryder and Brunner but everyone seems content with how old this team is |

i'm fine with how old the team is. jagr's age is a non factor. I think Ryder and Clowe will be productive. Elias is slowing down but his smarts makes up for it. and Gomez is the best 4th line C option. Half the D are 24 and under. We're fine with our age. Boucher will be up when we have an injury.. and he's good enough to play with anyone I think. |

I just hope that 4th line of Ruutu-Gomez-Brunner won't get shut down by some of the heavier checking 4th lines in the league. They should do fine against the average team, but some teams are deep and play so well. Gomez and Brunner aren't the strongest guys on the puck in the world. Hopefully their speed and playmaking ability can break through the D, and not be a liability. |
