Not that I was ever for it, but what we saw Tuesday makes Teuvo even more untouchable. The kid's a center... and we are going to need affordable centers. |

JJ, do you believe the addition of Boedker (hypothetically) will make the first line "lethal" as was reported?
Once again thanks for the rumors. |

not alot people talking about the Jets and Hawks being in on Drouin but I see one of these two teams making it happen |

JJ, is this more or about the same activity the team has every year? I would like to know from someone with sources, How do trade talks begin, with Stan or Scotty contacting the other teams? Does Scotty push players Stan's way, or does Stan get Scotty to pull them in? |

Hawks want defense and to rid of the bickell deal.
What about something like Andrew MacDonald and Robert Hagg for Bickell.
Flyers get out of the MacDonald deal for the lesser Bickell deal. Hagg is a former 2nd round pick who provides Chicago with future defenseman on cheaper deal. Flyers have a lot of defense prospects and could use one to move a contract and player not in their plans but could help Chicago.

J.T.Brown is a nice player but I don't understand the need for another bottom-6 guy, especially if Stan get's a 1LW and Shaw moves to the bottom-6. Maybe I put too high importance on team chemistry but it seems to me less change is better than not so I hope a player on the roster isn't traded to acquire a player for a position we don't need. |

Thanks for the updates JJ, if there was some way the Hawks could package Bickell and Scuds with draft picks with no salary coming back that would put us in a great position going forward with the RFA contracts coming up. I actually feel like the Hawks have enough to win the Stanley Cup so long as Krugs is back and every one else is healthy. |

Hopefully Stan is smarter than to take on MacDonald's $5M cap hit for 4 more years.

Before even getting into the merits of this deal, keep in mind that the Flyers are already retaining salary on the max three players, rendering the possibility moot. |

No way do the Hawks take 4 more years of a $5 Million Cap hit for MacDonald. They don't have the room even if they move Bickell, plus, Bickell only has one more year left. They would be better at just keeping Bickell around for the final year of his contract.
The only way the Hawks get rid of Bickell's contract is if they add a valuable prospect like Hartman or Pokka to a team that can absorb Bickell's contract. |

Hey guys,
Thanks JJ, avid reader and first time poster. To transition away from the rumor front (sorry), what do you think AA's impact has been on this years team. Do you feel like Kane and Bread man would be just as good with anyone centering them? It seems to me like AA plays a smart game and always heads to the net to create space for the other two to work their magic. |

Have to wonder who they are really looking at on the Leafs. Bickell would clearly be a financial move, and would guess a toss in meaning the Leafs would likely want an upgrade on a pick coming back. Curious though who the Hawks would really be after as that would set the return really. |

i think the best you could hope for in a trade is trading for another bad contract with similar term, but that fits a need better. idk, probably a bad example, but someone like wideman comes to mind. bickell and a 3rd for wideman? |

i can't see the leafs doing the favor to chicago of picking up the last year of bickell's contract without a similar contract going back ... but the leafs don't really have a bad contract with similar term to bickell's to send back. |

I do agree Saad was just beginning to play like a man's man in the NHL, good for him bad for us
As far as AA vs Saad the one thing I know to be true they both help this team win games and really to me that's all that matters
I've stopped counting but by November AA was screening the goalie which accounted for at least 5 goals, significance is that's how you score in the playoffs
With the addition of AA and Panarin looks like Kane is going to score over 100 points this year, not to shabby |

Thats why I figure it is going to be paying toronto to take him with a higher draft pick. Bickell I would guess would be an add on to whatever deal they were looking at. IE: Hawks trade player A + a 3rd for Toronto player B but if you take Bickell as well Toronto gets a 2nd. Something like that basically letting Toronto pay off the end of Bickell and getting it off Chicago's books as Toronto has some cap space. |

Toews/AA already man the top 2 lines long term. TT has to be stronger with the puck to make it in the NHL as a center, needs to bulk up a bit. One game is too small of a sample size to judge how he'd do as an NHL center, but Stan could likely sell that to other teams. He could be showcased further by taking 3C and bumping Danault to 4C with Moose pushed out to wing. Krugs is someone who could play wing or center when he comes back imo.
Bottom line, as far as trade value, TT just boosted his value for the Hawks to other teams. Stan can sell the small sample size and that he did come up as a center. I don't see him as untouchable, more of a blue chip that could stay or go and not hurt this club's chance for the Cup. |

I would try to move Scuds before the TDL. his salary drops to 2.5 next year and 1.1 is paid by Pitt. If you can get him off the books then you could retain 50% of bickells salary next year and that would lessen that amount you need to sweeten. Bicks at 50% retained maybe you can move him for a 3rd rounder and take back a few contracts 1 ways that you can bury in the AHL (Morin and thropp)

That was something we needed more of too, Shaw was the only other guy to park himself in front of the net. |
