Agreed. It was quite a surprising season. He started of quite good but it just kept getting worse and worse (stats wise). Must have had something to do with that sieve of a defense. Should go better again next year. |

I don't worry about Cory, he'll be fine. I do worry about when this team's young talent will gel/mature will he still be a top of the line goalie. That is where the crapshoot comes in. |

I don't think people are worried about Schneider. It's the entire defense in front of him that is worrisome. Put a better product in front of him and his numbers will rise to elite very quickly. |

See he comes to Calgary...problem solved?!
Honestly we know he's not going to be traded but arm chair GM's what would it take to get him? |

Well, the Devils need defense, and the Flames are not moving any of their top 3 Dmen. So impossible to make a deal. |

The problem was putting in Nesreddine instead of Stevens. The defense could use better personnel but the system doesn't seem to work very well.
As for Cory, he will be affected by who plays in front of him and how. If there is a worthwhile package out there, trade him. If not (and I think the goalie market isn't really good right now) then we keep him. His play isn't the problem. |

I'm confused as this article doesn't contain any references to Kovalchuk, Nico or how great Severson is... |

Any real fan who actually understands hockey isn't worried about Cory we all knew the defense was to blame for his crappy season, keep dreaming Calgary Cory won't be traded unless it's for a kings ransom he is too valuable to the devils |

The Defense won't be easily fixed but bringing back Stevens is two steps in the right direction, still waiting for Shero to make a trade for a defenseman prior to the expansion draft but I expect trades won't start until the post season Is over and teams get their protected player lists finalized |

What are the Devils? Is it full rebuild or continued rebuild, win now? I guess the question is do you keep Schneider and continue to struggle (Kind of like Mike Smith) or do you get him while the value is high and he is the best option out there? I honestly don't know, thus the question. We have some young D with big upside and a few highly rated tendie prospects... |

After the expansion draft, the draft and free agency we will get a better idea on where the devils are right now everything is working in the devils favor cap space, winning the draft lottery, having 11 picks in the upcoming draft and being in the perfect position to exploit teams in the expansion draft by far the biggest offseason for the devils in a very long time could see a very different team next season only time will tell that's why it's important to hold on to Cory and not rush into a trade especially not until our goalie prospects are ready to join the big club |

If LV can make a " We won't take player X but it will cost you a 1st round pick then why can't the Devils say to a team like St. Louis if you pick Timothy Liljegren, Juuso Välimäki or Callan Foote we will trade you Kovy after July 1st.
In regards to the LCC "Lousy Contract Club" i think Callahan & Brown would make sense. Both players are RW's and are serviceable (with the 1st round pick included)
That would give the Devils the 11th, 14th, & 20th plus the 1.
No order
Left wings - Hall, Wood, Cammi, Bennett
Centers - Zajac, Zacha, Henrique, Q,
Right Wings - Palmieri, Brown, Callahan, Noesen |

I don't want to take on more than 1 dead weight player. Having both Brown and Callahan on the team means RW spots for our younger guys that are NHL ready. Just one, please.

it just means more competition these bad contract guys are mostly here because we would be getting paid to take on their contract I would think it shouldn't matter if that guy happens to get beaten out in a competitive scenario and has to play in the AHL as again we ultimately have the cap space and that younger player shouldn't need that cap space yet. |
