If Weight benches Barzal and let's Ho Sang play I think we know what we have in Weight as a coach. So far he's Doug Capuano as far as I'm concerned.

He better not even think of sitting Barzal Cpt. Barzal, Beau, and Ho Sang should get a nice run as a line together. Put Ladd with Bailey and Nelson. I'm very curious about the d pairings for tonight.

Why would you think Barzal the one to be benched? He was one of the best pre-season forwards and was only on ice for one goal against. Isn't Chimera more likely/makes more sense? DIdn't hear much from him in preseason and despite his speed, he isn't much of a playmaker.

Better yet, sit Clutterbuck(before he gets injured) move Chimera to 4th line and let the kids play.

... New York suffered their worst opening-night loss since the Washington Capitals blew them out 6-1 in 2003.

Good thing they won the pre-season championship!

I'm just thinking exactly like Capuano would

He'll get his shot. Like weight sitting Seidenberg sends a message.

I do like Seidenberg sitting. Hopefully Pulock does not sit for too long. I just think the sooner you go with the kids, the quicker they will get comfortable.

Why don't the Islanders ever go out and get the best proven GM available or the best proven coach available?

When was the last time they did either?

Neil Smith as GM and Ted Nolan coach. Isles have had bad owners. It starts at the top.

1995.... Mike Milbury was a proven NHL coach, having taken the Bruins to the Cup Finals. Al Arbour had re-retired and there was no one better available.

Of course, some will say that later promoting Milbury to GM was a mistake, but there will always be naysayers.

Yeah, you could definitely argue that Neil and Ted were the best available at the time. I really liked Ted. The players played hard for him.... (as opposed to hahd)

As terrible as Milbury was, Maloney was arguably worse. Haven't been too many bright spots in Islanders management outside of the obvious!

I'm confused Garth Snow had tons of NHL experience and he also had a degree.
He hired Scott Gordon who went on to coach many teams afterwards and then hired Capuano who was absolutely the right man for the job with a resume full of high level coaching jobs.

I don't know what your talking about?

I have always argued that Maloney was the worst GM in Islanders history. He basically took a Cup contender built for him by Bill Torrey, and turned it into a lottery team. Milbury and Snow have been bad, but they weren't handed very good teams to start with.

Weight forgot to mention that, having hit them first, that isn't their quota for the season.

Agree Maloney was the worst. Milbury had no teams who's owner at the time would spend any money so he constantly had to trade players once they were due a high priced contract. Not saying Milbury in any way was good but Snow is spending to the Cap and we are having the same results as the other poop GMs we have had.

Milbury started out with John Spano (my hero) as his owner, and the next guys were cheapskates. However, when Wang bought the Isles, he practically gave Milbury a blank check, and Milbury went out and blew most of it on Alexei "Cashin" Yashin. ($90 million over 10 years!)
