Video review in sports is generally awful. The offside video review in the NHL is among the worst, if not the worst, instances where video review is allowed.

I'm with you on the stupidity of instant replay in all sports as they are supposed to be in the entertainment industry but as always you go off the deep end.
"Here is a pathetic quote from the Habs coach via TSN.ca
"Every time the puck crosses the blue line, they check the replay," he said. "Good work on their part. They deserve all the credit because I didn't see it. They said it was offside and they showed it to me. That saved us.""
The rule is the rule. The coaches job is to win games. Regardless of how anybody feels about the rule, the rule exists and the Habs, like every NHL team has a group that looks at replays. The team saw an issue inside the rule and capitalized on it. What makes that or anything in Julien's comments pathetic? Is it that you didn't get your way? Boo frankin hoo.
You're like a guy who can't save for his retirement complaining about people who use every legal loophole to pay less tax and save more. Just because somebody took advantage of the rules that exist doesn't make them the problem...the rules are the problem. You can do the same if you are smart enough. Calling Julien's comments pathetic just belies your true motives - hatred of the Habs and to promote your narrative of the Coyotes being better than their results if it weren't for their luck.
I think most people would agree something here is pathetic but it's not Julien's comments. |

Or, and this is probably crazy, but I have a legitimate argument about something stupid that I care about.
People get paid when you read their work literally every single thing on the internet is written as click bait. As are books, newspapers etc.
I don't see you criticizing the NHL for existing only so someone can make money.

Empower yourself. Get a PVR. You'll never regret it.
And why not flesh out that last sentence a bit. Do it soon and you'll beat the rush. |

There's a big ass Coyotes logo on the title of this blog, so I have some serious questions about your ability to critically discern media if you needed that quote to find out where my bias lies.
However, the reason the quote is pathetic is because after a game the coach should be talking about THE ACTUAL GAME. Not how he was able to win on a technicality.

Julien should ignore reality? Play ostrich with his head in the sand? He gave a real answer. An honest answer. Frankly it's the last thing hockey players, coaches and GMs ever give...they normally just give clichés. For once somebody honestly addresses the situation and you're calling it pathetic? Again...your real motives become obvious to everybody because you're so unbalanced and transparent despite attempts or claims otherwise |

The coach spoke of what initially got them the Win after the game the same way you wrote about it after the game. What's the difference? It was obviously a factor in the game, it's going to get talked about...

Yes a rule is a rule but there are some really stupid rules out there. I didn't see this game but we've all seen plenty of games when this happens. It's a total buzz kill when it happens. I'm at a point now when my team scores I don't even flinch or get excited because I'm waiting for either the offside challenge or the goaltender interference challenge! NHL is getting more aggravating to watch each day! My opinion is if the play is carried over the line for more than 30 seconds and someone scores but is technically offside....too bad...Goal counts! Enough of this voiding a goal because he is an eyelash offside! (could've used a more vulgar expression but chose not too).

But than they will review if it was 30 seconds before or after the puck was carried in. And if its 10 one hundredths of a second late and called back people will still lose their poop.
They need to get rid of the rule all together.. |

Offside replay should only be usable if team who was offside scored of that possession. If goal was scored on the play where the offside occurred, then so be it, but if the play continues on and the puck changes possession 1, 2, or more times before goal, then it shouldn't be able to be used to take a goal away. |

It was on the PP so it is a big deal as they usually can maintain possession. If it was even strength I can see it. I rule is a rule and if you let them pick and choose when to follow them it will be worse. Sucks for them but at the end of the day they didnt alllow an offside goal. |

Better idea: just go back to the old rule where the linesman makes the call with his eyes like a human and forget all the video replay.
I think they should take it out completely, even for goals. No replays. Ever. For anything. |

There isn't a professional sport being played where replay isn't used. Dumb to say it should be taken out of game. NEVER happen, so............modifying it to ensure the right calls are made w/out slowing the flow down is what needs to be done |
