Really the league should have avoided teams having to make have "the debate" about winning or going for the 1st overall pick.

MINIMALLY, the league should have just put off the lottery until the season was done. There was very little good reason to have the lottery now; and now they've created this situation that may encourage tanking. Ironically this is the exact opposite of what the intention of the lottery system is.

If the league was so intent on having the lottery now then they should have just excluded the play-in teams. Because those teams are all in the playoffs and it's just semantics saying they aren't. You have 7 teams told to basically screw off and that can be harmed by this playoff system (NJ can see two of it's first round picks adversely affected) but zero benefit.

I agree, It's time for the Panthers to start winning, and move forward towards becoming a true Cup contender. I'd add Barkov & Huberdeau to the "time to step up" list. I want to see them shine when the stakes are highest.
